I'd go for the medium.

You can always turn a fan speed down, but you cant turn it up.

 

These are really good fans. Pushes good amount of air and quiet.
I have 3 of these on my 360mm radiator.

um I've heard that SilenX are really bad. The specs look awesome, but they're really expensive and don't they break on people alot?

 

haven't used the Panaflo's myself so i can't comment on how the yate's compare.

but i do use 8 D12SH-12 yate's nearly 24/7 at ~7v. can't hear them over ambient room noise at ~7v, and can get mildly loud when they're all at 12v. even then it's more of a constant air "whoosh" than any fan noise.

Don't get Yate Loons from Jab-Tech. They're not "real" Yate Loons. You need to go to Petra's Tech Shop.

SilenX are a joke. They are one of the worst "quiet" fans and they break.

apparently Petra's is the only place that doesn't go through a middle-man to get their Yate's and some of the ones tested (check the link he gave) from other places produced odd-results compared to the "official" ones.

They are doing their job in my setup, i'd change them if they make a better looking turbine fan.

I highly doubt PTS get special fans from Yate. They are a huge OEM fan company, and have bigger fish to worry about than PTS.

Actually, yes there is proof from Yate Loon. This issue has been raised a few times in the past. For example, Jab-Tech use to sell open-corner Yate Loons. Funny thing is YL doesn't produce open-corner fans.

 

I used to have 3 yate loons(low) but I didnt really like them. I put 3 FM121s instead. When im web surfing, i cant turn them to low and they are very quiet. When gaming and overclocking, I turn them on high.

Where did you get the Yate Loon?

 

I got mine from jab because I was ordering from them, and I like open corner fans

but they are as quiet as my nexfan yate loons ... lol who knows where they're all coming from. But quiet nonetheless.

They'd be alright for a rad, just nothing spectacular. I would at least put them on a shroud to increase the pressure and decrease the dead zone. You should consider some 86cfm panaflos.

I currently have 86cfm panaflos, I just don't like the noise level. The performance is good enough for me when I turn them down, so I figure quieter fans should work as well, if not better when comparing noise levels.

But is the 38mm thickness vs 25mm going to make a big difference?

 

I believe the YL aren't real YL but I have 4 High speed YL from jabtech(closed corner) and they cool my 120.2 decent

and yes the switch from 38 to 25 is like going from a caddy to a really nice Hyundai ...just not the same and when I got my fans I was low on cash so I ended up with 25's

I hate that you think the 86 Pana are to loud...There good one's for that GTS, its a high fin per inch count rad...Those little YL's are going to be straining on a rad like that...These are a little quieter then the 86cfm but they are more $$$ to....Pana 68.9cfm

 

I got 7 Pana 86 cfm on my rad and they are not too loud @ 7v. Also the temp diff. is about 5c or less when using them @ 12v.

 

I think I'm going to end up sticking with my Panaflos. Since I'm probably going to end up moving my PC off my desk, the small noise difference will end up not mattering.

For some reason they were making more noise when I just got them, now it doesn't seem as bad.
