Notice: We're sorry to inform you that we are unable to deliver your pre-ordered version of South Park: The Stick of Truth on March 6th as initially planned. The German and Austrian version of South Park: The Stick of Truth contains an unconstitutional symbol which means that we are unfortunately not able to release the game on the German and Austrian market at this time.

This concerns all versions/platforms of the game. There is no need to amend or cancel your pre-order. A new release date of South Park: The Stick of Truth for the German and Austrian market will be announced shortly, and we will ensure that your order is delivered to coincide with this new date.
We are extremely sorry for the additional waiting time, and thank you for your understanding.

Censoring just leads to piracy IMHO, if I was living in Germany, Austria or any country where this game was censored, I would highly consider getting this game with other means... The game should be enjoyed as the developer meant it to be, and with South Park we all know that the humor, racism and violence is a big factor...

The Japanese version of Fallout 3 had some censored bits. There's still alot of social tension over the bomb, so that's quite understandable, as some parts of the game would be quite traumatizing/offensive to those still suffering the repercussions.

But are Germans sensitive to this sort of thing? Most Germans I've talked so seem quite open about their dark past. It's widely discussed, taught in history... not exactly a taboo subject, so why censor it?

It was a taboo subject in the area I used to live in Germany, could have just been the local area though. It can be a touchy subject for some there, as many had grandparents who fought in the war, and making jokes with swastikas is much less appropriate there. It's mostly the older folks that care though from what I've seen.

Again though, not speaking for any actual Germans, just my observations when I lived in the Rheinland-Pfalz area for a few years.

Well a swastika on itself is not wrong just that the third reich used it was wrong. War crimes are bad but if somebody steals 100 mark in land from me I would want that back, that goes for all the parts Prussia had to surrender after the loss in WWI. This has nothing to do with the holocaust just that if something is forcefully taken away from you anyone would go trough great extent to get it back.

Just look at the world currently there is all this commotion about Crimea which Russia wants back and why is that? It is because Chroetsjov actually gave that back to Ukraine when it moved towards becoming independent rather than a pure soviet country state. The Russians no longer think that way especially since the black sea has great importance to Russia. Ones that say that Barack Obama is the most powerful man on this globe are mistaken even though Russia is less of an economic power Putin can act on it's own without any real needs of the rest of his party nor the opposition.

To conclude this and why I went all this way to write this is because most of Eastern-Germany is still relatively poor and the people still have the Russians in their memory the wall fell in 91 but the Russian withdraw wasn't till 93 that is not so long ago. Some Eastern-German citizens still feel more bound to Nazism just because they really hate the Russians. Censorism is bad I think Germany can start changing their policy and maybe America can lift all their restrictions and withdraw their divisions from Germany.(Although that military ban and not being allowed to strike has greatly helped Germany put all their focus on their economy and the future)

Iron Sky was released in Germany and Austria if I'm not mistaken and it was also a "humor" title

Just finished the game main story and all except two side quests (in 10hours total playtime) In past few years I have been mostly disappointed about quality of games, I even bought XBOX just for the GTA V but was quite disappointed as well. But this game, the debt of it, the jokes, loot, weapons, combat, characters everything is 10/10. I have always loved South Park series story but this is just new level.
Must have for any South Park fan.

I'm loving the game, I'm a little disappointed to hear you finished it so quickly. Hopefully there is some DLC in the pipeline.

True it was a bit on a short side but I believe it would be rather hard to make it longer and still keep the story as interesting and full of action. The only problem for me was that level cap is 15 which I achieved in around 8th hour.

E: Hard to judge since it just launched but due to ending I would say there will be more South Park games coming and hopefully this time around on PS4 and Xbox One as well.

Nearly all of the Nazi related stuff is banned by law in Germany.

Feels like Germans are always getting games delayed and then finally released with parts censored or cut out of the game entirely, a shame. I think this game surpassed everyone's expectations and I hope it becomes an example for how future projects should be undertaken, it really does feel like the game was created by some hardcore South Park fans.

Also I think rather than upholding the stigmatization of the symbol and further promoting it's association with Nazism, they should look towards educating people of it's intended and historical meanings, whilst also making people aware that most of the soldiers fighting against the allies were just as good intentioned and decent as those fighting for the allied forces.
