Video card running at x2

For some unknown reason, after I updated my BIOS my bus interface has dropped down to PCI-E x2!

I've checked though all my BIOS settings, I can't seem to find anything that would link to the PCI-E bus interface speed.

Right now things are unplayable, BFBC2 runs at 25FPS. It was never like this before, and the only thing that's changed is the BIOS.

I can't flash back to my old BIOS, because I'm getting a new CPU and it's only supported on this new BIOS.

I already tried ASRock tech support but the useless rep just told me to flash back. Gee, thanks Captain Obvious.

Where can I find the setting to bump it back up to x16?

Revert back.

Not an option.

Get a new motherboard.

Hm, my brother had this problem. All he did was shut down his computer, pull out the graphics card and set it securely back on. It reverted back to 16x. Don't know if this will work for you, but it's worth a shot. Good luck if you haven't tried this already.

Actually, that sounds like it might work... I'll try that. +rep

stupid question, which port you have it in? green or blue?
It's in the top port, whatever colour that is. It was running in x16 mode before, so it can't be in the wrong port. (Unless it moved itself.

Revert back if you aren't happy.
If not happy, obviously invest in another motherboard.
How am I shutting down "potential help?" So far the only people who have actually given advice in this topic are donkru, LivingChampion and borito4.

Getting a new motherboard because I'm too lazy to find out what's wrong is extremely wasteful. Look at my rig pal, if I could just say "hey, let's get a new motherboard for the heck of it" I wouldn't be kicking a phenom obviously; I'd be running a brand new P67 system with a GTX 570 like you. Not everybody has money to throw away.

Have you tried reflashing? Maybe you could flash back to the one that worked and then flash the new one. If not try downloading the bios again and flashing it again. Also do you have another card you could test out? MAybe putting the card in the lower port would be ok. even 8x would be better than 2.

EDIT:
just did some research on your chipset. It is pcie 2.0 which means the lower pcie will give you 8x bandwidth which is the same as PCIE 1.x 16x. You should be bogged down if you could get the lower adapter to work.
