Default Overclock.net folding team competition

In order to permit folders who contribute regularly but do not have the resources to compete with the "big boys" and to enjoy the competitive aspects of folding and to have some fun, we are starting a team competition within Overclock.net. The team competition will have the following rules:
  • Each team is required to have exactly 4 members.
  • Each team will be limited to 8 active CPU cores total, and no individual team member may have more than 3 active CPU cores. This competition is intended for the non-power folders, and we would like to keep the folding power of the teams to a reasonable level so that no one is too small to participate in this competition. The count of active cores (with 7 days) as reported here will be the official count for each person. Please be aware that running multiple instances of the folding software on one computer will count as multiple CPUs. SMP on a dual or quad core CPU counts as two or four cores, respectively, for the sake of the competition even though Stanford only shows it as one (they count clients, not cores). See this thread for more info on CPU core counting.
  • Each individual must fold under their own folding name and team 37726. We will tally the team scores and post updates on a regular basis.
  • The members of the winning team each month will have bragging rights, and we will be giving prizes and other forms of recognition on the forums in the future.
What you need to do -
  • Each team should have a thread in the folding forum for their team. In the first post of the thread, each team member should be identified by their Overclock.net name and their folding name if it is different. The number of CPU cores contributed by each member should be identified as well.
  • If you have a partial team, create a thread for your team to recruit additional members. If you'd like to be more proactive in your recruitment, you can find members looking for a team here.
  • If you are looking to join a team, post your info here or respond directly to team threads that indicate the teams are looking for members. Include the number of CPU cores you are planning on contributing to the team.
  • One member of your team should be designated as team captain. The captain will receive any necessary PMs related to the competition.
  • Remember to fold for team 37726! Only points for our team will be counted in this competition (and for any other prizes on our site).
  • If you have too many CPU cores active to fit within the no more than 3 core limitation, please do not reduce your folding power for the sake of this competition! While this competition will certainly be fun, contributing to the folding cause is the primary concern. If you need to reduce the number of CPUs on under your folding username, please change the folding username on the "additional" computers to your team's name, e.g. "Team_MHz_Masters". See the example at the end of this post for more information. Please be sure to use the exact name. This fictitious "user" will account for all of the "additional" folding power for each team.
Please feel free to PM me or slow'puter or post in this thread if you have any questions.

Ways to join/start a folding team:
  • Each folding team has a team thread with the number of team members, if any, they're looking for. Check these threads if you want to join a team.
  • Members looking for a team can also post in this thread.
  • Create a new thread in the folding forum, titled "Team <your team name> (3 members needed)". As you find team members, change the thread title to reflect your team's needs. PM me once your team is set up, so I can add you to the list.
Example of team breakdown
  • Team name: Example guys
  • Team member 1: Intel - 4 CPUs - 3 CPUs as "Intel", 1 CPUs as "Team_Example_Guys"
  • Team member 2: AMD - 1 CPU - 1 CPU as "AMD"
  • Team member 3: ATI - 3 CPUs - 2 CPUs as "ATI", 1 CPU for "Team_Example_Guys"
  • Team member 4: nVidia - 10 CPUs - 2 CPUs as "nVidia", 8 CPUs as "Team_Example_Guys"
18 CPUs total, 8 CPUs for team competition, 10 CPUs for generic "Team_Example_Guys" team. The 8 CPUs count for the scoring of this competition; the 10 CPUs are for bragging rights and for the general cause (folding in general and team 37726).

Current teams

For a list of current teams, please view the folding teams forum and the team competition scoring thread.
