Best recommendation for CPU cooler?

Okay, so It seems that The Cooler Master Hyper TX3 will not let me get more than 500Mhz On ANY of the processors I've tried it on. So, I'm trying to look for a Good, cheap solution to get a Very Good overclock on my X2 550 BE. I'm actually currently @ 3.6Ghz, because If i Go to 3.7Ghz, I can game for about 25 minutes, and it would freeze. I was looking @ the Corsair Hydro H50, but It's a bit far out of my price range. It's also got to fit my NZXT Vulcan, And I see that H50 in my system seems best, even though It's out of price range. But, I can always save

I just need a really good cooler for the price, give me a recommendation. I want to Hit 4Ghz + , So it's not a crap cooler.

I'd have to agree with Knoxy, a NH-D14 for 75$ + free shipping is serious performance at a nice price point.

Edit: If it can't fit in your case and it's a small one, I'd go for an H50 or H60 (H60 is almost as good as the H70 if both are push-pull) especially if you care about the look and you have a window.

Over budget. That, and that cooler is WAY too big for my NZXT Vulcan. No way I'll be paying for a Noctua NH-D14 right now.

That is almost the same thing he has, just 8mm heat pipes opposed to the tx3's 6mm Heat pipes.

If you are going to spend the money, go for the noctua.

It is crazy to see the hyper 212+ going for 50.00 I picked one up for a work computer for 24.99 about 4 months ago. I guess all the unrest in China is finally catching up to the American Market.

Or how about Newegg sees that TONS of people are buying these things, and that jacking up the price little by little will net them money.

where did you hear their nickel plating is not good? never heard of that before unless your thinking of EK waterblocks.....

Yeah, I hear ya. I bought the TX3 because of good reviews, thinking I would get 3.5Ghz On a Core 2 Duo E6750 I had until like two days ago, which was stock 2.66Ghz. But, It turns out my sorry but was wrong. I could only push 3.1Ghz Max on the thing, and my Sig rig has only gotten from 3.1Ghz to 3.6Ghz (Same, 500Mhz OC like the E6750).

So, I guess this thing is made for like those 45W CPU's, then Overclock the crap out of those.
