basically im thinking of switching to 800 dpi and im NOT used to it. i think at one point in my life i was using my arm since i had not owned a gaming mouse but at the time with low res monitors it wasnt a big deal.

now im used to around 1500dpi and i have the base of my wrist planted as a pivot to move my hand around and navigate my mouse

to use 800 dpi you need to use your arm so my question is how many of you use your arm and do you find arm or wrist more accurate

There tends to be larger differences based on how you hold the mouse. The main two ways to hold a mouse are Claw and Palm grip. People who claw grip usually move their wrist, and people who palm grip tend to move their arm. I am typically a hybrid gripper because I change my mouse sensitivity on the fly. I use claw grip for DPI > 1800 and Palm grip for DPI < 1800.

This is all a matter of preference, but I believe their is a strong correlation between DPI and grip style.

Also, I feel like I end up doing the lift-n-drop when I have too low DPI while using only wrist.
Yeah that's how it was for me I was lifting it up every few seconds no idea why.

er how do you build any muscle memory lol

5600 is REALLY REALLY fast and i doubt even doable on 1440 res

I must say back in my CS 1.0/1.6 days I used an MX510 (800DPI) and was using maybe like anywhere from 3.5 to 4 on the settings and I did fairly good then after going on to MX518 (1800DPI v2) I started to use more of a fingertip/claw style use on my hand and I was using a hardpad as well so it was pretty slick and eventually I started playing like flick style movements. While I use my wrist to move around if I have to quickly go 180 then I may have to use my arm but maybe 5-10% arm 90% wrist.

I guess it all has to depend on your style but if you get to the point where your wrist/hand/arm feels uncomfortable and you feel pain then you may need to change your style or mouse. Yeah many will say thats just because you use the computer too long but it could primarily be the placement of your hand because for the longest time I have been using claw type/wrist/hardpad and I started to get minor pain on the ring and pinky fingers, after switching to the cm storm spawn and going softpad the pain went away, I mean there can be many variables that can come to play but thats just from my experience.

It could also depend on the game because if I played BC2/BF3 and I was sniping then I'll go with low DPI/wrist but when it comes to a fast pace game (when I used to play Quake/UT) then I was using a lot of hand movement but if you're really accurate with your wrists you can get away with high dpi.

DPI is not mouse sensitivity. You wanna leave your DPI alone and adjust the ingame sensitivity if you wanna go low sens. You need to measure how much you need to move your mouse for a 360 turn. That is your sensitivety. DPI has nothing to do with it.

Other way around. Leave sensitivity at 1, adjust DPI.
