I think he means he already has some DDR3 he could reuse, vs. buying new DDR4. It's a fair question for budget conscious folks, but I'm not sure someone on a budget should be looking at the newest, shiniest stuff on the block anyway.
Us paupers should stick to APU's and Pentiums, eh
I didn't mean to sound elitest there, if it came off that way my bad. Not dissing budget builds, just pointing out that "enthusiast" and "budget" aren't usually used in the same sentence.
No worries, I guessed you didnt mean it quite that way. But if I'm to get pedantic about semantics (I'm definitely a poet) then an enthusiast isn't necessarily defined by the amount of money they have available to throw at their rig. I would argue most people have a 'budget' even if it means going SLI 980tis instead of Titan X's or 'only' getting the 5930k/5820k instead of a 5960x. Or sticking with your DDR3 and upgrading to the newest platform to have something new to play with while you wait a few weeks to get a better RAM kit.
And its only $112 on Amazon.Originally Posted by Mad Pistol

16GB 2x8GB DDR4-3000 for $135. If I could afford the rest of the platform, that's what I would get.![]()
