Enjoyable 4-player CO-OP game.

Alien Swarm off of Steam. It's free.

( I played with 3 players on Lan... I think playing with 3 unknown people might be frustrating. )

Not that are like borderlands no. ONLY thing L4D2 has in common is 4 player coop, I don't know how people think they are in any way similar other then that.

There may be some but I can't think of any coop-shooter-rpg type games off the top of my head.

Just something to check out/wait for - not released yet:

"Rage" and "Brink" seem to be quite similar to borderlands, I think both are coming around Q2 2011.
