I was looking at cases and came across the Raven...I was going to get the HAF X, but I'm wondering how the Raven stacks up to it? The whole interior looks very different. What do your temps look like? How's the cable management? Stuff like that. Hoping for personal experiences with either or both.

What are you going to be using it for? Do you really need a full tower?

If you do need a full tower, honestly, for any application, you can't really beat the haf x in functionality.

If you don't need a full tower, I would go with the CM 690 II advanced. Imo it's the best case on the market right now. This case can do anything, and in a pretty small package. Not to mention, it is a bargain.

I've owned 3 other cases(CM storm scout, Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P80, and Lancool PC-K62) and this case is my favorite, and cost the least. Imagine that.

I'm definitely rolling full tower, I want to have room for expansion, especially in card slots.

The Raven 2 is an awesome case. I used to have the HAF932 but didnt want a tower that big. I went to a smaller/quieter case but I got over that one (mini P180B). Then I picked up the Raven. I love it. I would have gotten the Silverstone Fortress but those were a little out of my price range. I love how it has the mobo turned 90 degrees so that the GPU's are vertical. The 3 fans on the bottom are almost silent too. Keeps my SLI'd GTX 285's in the high 70's low 80s while playing Metro2033, but usually doesnt go above 70 on most other games I play. Cable management is pretty easy as well, there are several spots to zip tie cables. My only gripe is the power button feels a little cheap. I saw other reviews/users saying the same thing but that is the least of my concerns.

Yeah if you're looking at the Raven then definitely check out the Fortress (FT02). It's like a grown-up smarter version, with no flashy bits, no plastic, just solid and beautiful

It's extremely quiet and very cool. For airflow, I've never seen a better case

HAF X over the Raven, (I dont like the ravens styling) but if it was HAF X vs the FT02. Im not sure which one I would go for in the end.

Probably the FT02 just because having the connectors at the top would be quite useful for me.

FT02 is the best of the cases, but it's internally the same as the current RV02. The only downside to both is that there isn't a heck of a lot of room behind the mobo tray, but the cooling is top notch, and the build quality is amazing. HAF-X is also amazing, but it is huge, and kinda ugly, whereas the silverstones ooze style.
I'm not entirely sure about the dust filter position with the HAF, but the silverstones all have easily removable slide out washable filters on all intake fans.

I'm probably too late but look here I have a silverstone rv02-bw and here is a post of my temps compared to others with haf-x http://www.overclock.net/nvidia-cool...470-temps.html. One person got with HAF-x 700/1401/1848 with 1075mV 82c, another at 800/1600/1800 with 1075mv 88c. With my raven rv02-bw at 750/1500/1826 I got 69c a heavier overclock and still 13c cooler. Even more impressive was that I got 863/1726/2078 with 1087mv overclock at 82c on a 20 minute test showing I get the same temps as the haf-x got with a 163mhz heavier overclock. It shows quite frankly the silverstone kills the haf-x in temps when it comes to gpu's, there is no question in my mind the silverstone is the better case when it comes to performance. I am now running 2 470's in sli in this case with crysis 2 all maxed out, it averages around 74fps and never reaches over 70c while the fans only having to be set at 62%.

Nice temps man. Yea Im planning to buy the Silverstone Raven 2 also pretty soon here. But I have a question to ask you and that is about dust. I know the Raven 2 has three 180mm fans at the bottom blowing air up through the top of the case. But since you have this case do you notice a lot of dust inside the case? Also what about is there a lot of dust at the bottom of your case? please let me know , thx.

When I had an FT02 dust wasn't an issue at all. The positive pressure combined with the straight airflow from bottom to top exhausted all the dust out. The dust filters also managed to catch a good amount.

These are all good posts, totally agree.

The above post is especially why I love my FT-02, it's not just gpu's, 4.2Ghz overclock with only a single, silent, 850rpm fan. I couldn't run an overclock that required full fan speeds or even 1400rpm, the noise would be so annoying.

as farkle pointed these Silverstone cases have filters which do a good job keeping the dust out of your case. But don't set them on carpet or you will have to clean the filters often. In the future just start a new thread with your question.

Doesn't matter if the op is still interested, people search forums looking for real user opinions all the time, I only look at review sites for technical details and detailed pictures. So necro threads are just as relevent (unless it really is time dependent, like talking about out dated drivers or an old OS) as current ones.

It's also interesting to read old threads to observe the trends, i'll bet money that all those people who love HAF's now, will cringe at the site of them in 5 yrs time. Classic aesthetics stand the test of time, gimics don't.

EDIT:

I like the HAF series but the Ravens would be my choice if I could get my 2 radiators mounted... it's the only reason I haven't bought one yet. The Raven RV03 is pretty slick looking.

What radiators do you have? My FT-02 came with a bracket for mounting a readiator on the the bottom fans.

Meh my experience was that the filters clog quick, and that the snap on lid kills airflow. Silverstone's positive pressure advertising is crap. If you had a traditional ATX case with 3x180mm fans in the front it would get the same temps.
