Thee are no aftermarket coolers that I know of (and a GTX 480 aftermarket cooler won't work either), but apparently the stock coolers for the GTX 580s are actually half decent (cooling wise) so keep the stock cooler on until some good aftermarket one come around I say

I wrong see below.

Thanks for the input, guys.

I intend to make my GTX 580 purchase next week.

As CM96 mentioned, I will try the stock cooler at first. At this time of year in the lower ambient temperatures in the Northern hemisphere will help the operating temps... but Imma not gonna count my chickens before they hatch.

I will eventually replace the cooler, or maybe swap over to my Liquid Cooling gear.

Thanks again, and if there are any recommendations that have not been mentioned please feel free to post 'em.

Just to put my 2 cents in I love the Icy Vision. Great temps. Never breaks 51 when folding 24/7 with slight OC. Doesn't break 65 at 820/1640 max volts. Of course this is on a 470 but still great temps.

So.... I just purchased a whole boat load of PC hardware... the GTX 580 being one of the items.

Imma gonna use the stock cooler for the first couple of weeks while I twiddle around with the new platform and new OS.

Once I get comfortable with the new setup I will start looking into aftermarket cooling for the GPU.
