i searched this problem and its been happening tince 3-05-2010 and still no fix? ***?

I got through the first part of the game(on boats) and was just about to stab the first guy and closed...started it back up and got to the point where the explosion kills you and you are fading into the water and it closed it...not cool that in 10-15 mins its closed 2 times...that makes it unplayable..

well, had to email customer service, even though they are suppose to be open phone support, there closed and there live support is glitched. i emailed them and told them if this is a known glitch im just going to issue a charge back as 4 crashes in 25 mins is in no way playable and i game atleast 6 hours a day and never crash.(metro, batman, eq2, tf2, lfd1&2, half life, gow, mlb 2k9, BGT, sf4, trials, dirt2,darksiders, gt4, gta vice cit, drid, just cause, shattered horizon, star wars kotor and none of them ever crash)

Try to reinstall nvidia drivers to last stable. I had an issue with graphics corruption on one card that was not on another so I went back. Worth a shot. I only got this crash on multiplayer but it might also be worth it to check your event logs, it may be some other program causing it like a firewall or maybe windows or anti-virus. I would check EA forums as well.

@ cyanmcleod - I have been having the Crash To Desktop with no error message for months in BC2. There is a thread that I am trying to get people with the same problem to post their details in here, if you can .

@ Blue Destroyer -Have you patched the game? There were alot of bugs that were fixed in a few major updates last year. Try running the updater it should auto patch.

What really pisses me off is the crashing to desktop I get in the map "Cold War". I love that map but after the first two MCOMs, it is prone to crash to the desktop. What happens is it suddenly gets stuck and then I'm on the desktop with a few milliseconds worth of sound looping rapidly, forcing me to reboot. It's so annoying when I'm playing with friends, particularly due to having to close down the TeamSpeak server to reboot. This only happens in the map "Cold War".

Lately however, it stopped happening. I think the trick is to not check the scoreboard whilst playing that map. At least every time I've crashed, it has been from the scoreboard...
I have no idea but it's a pretty "epic fail" kind of bug.

For reference, I run the game in its latest version and with the latest version of Punkbuster, manually installed. Moreover, this bug has survived several formats for me. The only common factor is my graphics card, I guess.

This has happened in the menu right after all the start up screens and when playing in single player so i dont think scorecard or whatever could be the problem

when i run the patch all it does is check the version, then load the game.

ea forums have this problem all over it but no solution i see posts from like the day after launch, aug of last year, dec of last year and jan/feb/march of this year and no one has a solution.

BTW this is not through steam.

These problems are very rarely the user's fault, especially when so many people have similar issues and how different computers behave differently. Clearly the software is bugged and no one but DICE can fix it. If they give up in further patching the game, ignore the bug entirely or simply can't find a fix for it, we're just permanently screwed. I've never thought to phone support for game problems because I always know it's the game and the only way to fix it is for the developer to patch it.
