will that work on an 8800?Originally Posted by De-Zant;14058134
You have to enable nVidia surround in the control panel, which quite often doesn't work unless the monitors are identical (they need to have the same sync polarity, which is quite often not the same)
Besides, gaming on two is crap. The middle is divided by a bezel, so crosshairs will be split by it in FPS, you're not gonna see directly in front in racing and 1st person RPG games, in MMOs the character will be split in two, etc.
Just use one unless you have 3 displays. It's one or three or five. Not two or four or six.
AFAIK surround was introduced on fermi GPUs, so from what I know, not.Originally Posted by philhalo66;14058153

How did you do it? The ATI eyefinity which also allows this was introduced on the 5000 series.Originally Posted by philhalo66;14058194

Eyefinity is for displaying 3+ monitors off of one card (they make special Eyefinity edition cards with 6 display ports). The 4870's could display 2 monitors natively.Originally Posted by De-Zant;14058211

Aand it would require softTH with some tweaking to get games to go on 2 monitors.
Though XP did have span function. If you were still on XP at the time, that might've been it. But I didn't fiddle with monitor settings back when I had it, I wouldn't know.
Oh, on that note. Try softTH. Though you will have to make it work on 2 monitors, which requires some tweaking. You should be able to find some guides on how to accomplish that on google.
EDIT: Also some games, like just cause 2, codemasters new driving games, DAO, allow you to play in windowed mode and just stretch the game window on both screens. But these kinds of games are rare.
Well, I always replace the more formal naming "monitor grouping" with "eyefinity".Originally Posted by CovertCover;14059741

Sure. Launch the movie, drag the window of the program that is playing the movie into the secondary screen, maximize the window, and then launch the game and enjoyOriginally Posted by Coach Mcguirk;14061278
Is it possible to play a DvD movie on one 1440x900 screen, and game on my main 1920x1080 screen? At the same time of course.

There's no such thing as ATi surround AFAIK.Originally Posted by philhalo66;14075709

Also it would not work with a 4870 as well, let alone with the on-board 3200 chip.Originally Posted by De-Zant;14080357
