Not sure if this is the right section to post this, kinda new here! (Sort of new to overclocking in general, but I know the basics)

Anyway, I got my hyper 212+ in the mail the other day, put it in and decided to overclock my phenom 2 955 to 3.8ghz. I got it there running seemingly stable, 32c idle, max 50c. I ran prime 95 for 11 hours and somewhere along the line got this error:

[Wed Sep 14 06:33:15 2011]
Self-test 14K passed!

I've been having problems with my ram (crashing programs, weird glitches etc) and I suspect it has something to do with wrong ram timings or voltage?
I have Corsair XMS3 2x2gb ram. I don't know much about ram in relation to the CPU and how it should be setup with an overclock so that's what I need help with. How should I go about addressing this overclock to make it stable? currently the timings are 8-8-8-24 and voltage 1.67.
Any help is appreciated!

Phenom 2 955 x4 3.2ghz (oc 3.8) + Hyper 212+
XMS3 2x2gb 1333mhz (1600mhz)
XFX 6950 1gb
Corsair TX650W PSU
MSI 870-g45
Windows 7 64bit

What is the rest of your hardware that you are using, cpu,MB?
and you bios setting,it makes it easier to help.

but heres a good Prime95 helper

basics are like this.

errors in small fft's are most likely cpu related
errors in large fft's are memory and NB/IMC related
if vcore is way too low it can error in large or small or crash
small fft's are these 8k,14k,20k and so on
large fft's are these 768k.986k,1024k and so on
running blend switches between small and large,so depending
on what size it fails at will determine what needs to be done
to fix it.

heres a great link on how to use prime95.

Torture test your CPU with Prime95

it looks like you failed some large and small fft's

Well if you are OCing your ram to that frequency you will have to raise your timings, that is probably the issue, also the ram voltage should be set to whatever is recommended, which in your case is 1.5v then you are going to have to raise it for your Ram OC, so the safe max is 1.65v so give that a try. Try running that at 11-11-11-30 unganged and try command rate 2t. give yourself some more ram voltage and that should fix the ram problem, which is almost guaranteed part of the problem

You are close but it needs more volts or you need to back down.

Edit: It ran 11 hours so you are very very close.

I think I should bump my CPU vcore up a bit, yeah?
It's only a few notches higher than default, something like 1.405v
I'll try memtest as well
I am certain it is the ram timings, when you OC frequency of ram you have to loosen the timings, try the timings in my last post. Then if that doesn't work you may try doing vcore, but those timings are unstable just by looking at them.

XMS3 2x2gb 1333mhz
from my quick search it was 9-9-9-24 @1.5v. so CL8 @1600mhz is unreasonable. even at 1.65 I feel.

Okay so, I ran memtest86 for 1 full run and got a pass so no errors yet. Bumped my cpu vcore up 0.5v to 1.410v
Still have the same ram timings and settings as before. I am pretty certain it is my ram though because when I play games they always crash, but its not like an error crash sometimes I get weird green glitch tear in my screen and it crashes to desktop. Then after that all my programs start crashing and getting weird errors and memory errors and such.. Hasn't happened since I changed my timings but it was happening a lot last night.

All other voltages are default except for ram & CPU vcore.

Try 5 passes in memtest. See what happens.

I still say you are very very close. You got 11 hours out of that set up. And you only got the Rounding error, not a freeze or BSOD.

I defer to these guys on the memory help, they know what's up with it. They can help you better.

You're right on the edge of stability there though. Nice....

Just to be clear the OC is the 1600mhz, right? says on the box its suppose to run at 1600mhz by default but I had to push it up there myself. So, is default 8-8-8 24 1333mhz?

Edit: Prime95 gave same error just 5 minutes into the test. I'll change the timings now.

Edit 2: Just noticed one of my ram sticks was running at a different timing than the other..Silly of me. One was running at 8-8-8-24 and one was at 9-9-9-26. This definitely had an affect I guess, trying prime95 again.
