Should I even consider this and is it worth it for my SLI setup?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-EVGA-GTX-580-Backplate-BACK-PLATE-/230575382795?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item35af5d210b#ht_3145wt_1234
Only $30, looks easy to install, and simply allows more metal for 'heat spreading'...

Any one already have this?
Also my question is that my GPU's are literally sandwiched together so I am not sure how that will effect the cooling...
I will eventually upgrade my case to allow better GPU spacing since my motherboard and case don't like each other...

I also have a few fans (3) directing air towards the cards and here is a pic of my setup (old picture but same GPU setup)
450

Backplates do help, and they make things look nicer

If I were you I'd move the lower 580 to the next pci-e slot on your motherboard. You'd see a lot better temps then having them sandwiched like that. (I've had a gpu hooked up by only one pci-e screw and it was fine) give it a try and see it goes? If it isn't sturdy then yes a new case would be a very nice upgrade

yeah, thanks, but if you look at the pic, there is only one PCI slot available for the third pci-x slot... so half of the exhaust will go back into the case...
The Antec 1200 case only has 7 pci slots available and like I said, the motherboard and case don't like each other...

I will order 2 of these and found them for only $20... It does make it look nicer, and also protects the PCB...

Oh right I didn't think about the exhaust

I had watercooling when I did

. It's late for me.

Anyway, glad you could find them for cheaper, for $20 I'd say it's worth it. This beast deserves a bigger case!

hehe

lol 30 bucks?!
evga store has it for 20
its not in stock but just wait for it
I have them on mine and I'd say its worth it
and yes even with your sandwich it will still fit... barely

thanks guys, I will purchase them and see if it even makes that one degree difference under load on my overclocked cards. I have them running at 850mhz each and they aren't too hot to begin with, but for aesthetics and PCB protection, the $20 is nothing...

I run them at 81C/78C stressed now and will look for any difference if any...

Looks good, my pair are on the way!

So I am watching this video below, and states that the T7 screws are a better fit, although the T6 is listed in the instructions, so I will stick with a T7...
But my other question, is that he installs this with the serial number sticker still in tact... And looks like this went in between the thermal pad and GPU... Just looks like something that will affect it and my sticks are about to fall off anyways...
