As I've mentioned in my previous post, it was around 78~79°C.

Not yet sure since I haven't installed any game yet. What do you think of the recent info in this thread wherein Heaven is non-taxing to GPUs?

Well, as you asked! I say they're talking crap
biggrin.gif

You just wanted to heat your GPUs up! And I say Heaven will do that

Well, my real purpose here is to finding overclocking stability of my GPU?

I don't know which software you are using, but with Afterburner or EVGA PrecisionX you can set it up there (see highlighted are in pic below)

445

Afterburner download
PrecisionX download

I'm using the stock fan settings but with the mechanical fan switch of the card set to "Turbo". Yeah, I care less about noise because I can't hear the fans too when I'm gaming. How do you modify the fan curve of the video card?

Oh and btw, my ambient temps are quite high, aroun 30~33°C. What max temps should I be expecting? I know that the Hawk has a very good cooler, right? It's the main reason I opt to buy it over other variants of the 560M.

Right. Which is better between the two softwares you've just mentioned?

It's a personal preference really. I use both, but can tell that AB would edge Precision because it shows max occurrences for the items you are monitoring, such as memory use, temps etc. I like Precision's interface better, so if they were to implement the same capability as AB then I would probably lean to that side mostly, but for now I use both.

Ok but most OCN members use Afterburner IIRC, yes? So in turn, better support from them?

If your trying to get your absolute max temps, OCCT 4.0 will do that. I've never been able to get anywhere close to the amount of load + high temps that OCCT can stress with your system. I don't know exactly how it's coded but it really stresses your system more than any other program, even the CPU is stressed beyond what prime can do. Typically I'll load around 176Watts on my CPU in prime. With OCCT CPU test I'll be up easily around 211watts.

With my 560 I'd be around 38-39C max load in BF3, Crysis, Heaven, Metro. Then when I went over to OCCT I'd get upto 42C. I know its not a huge change in temps but remember I was direct die cooling with the 620 and 560... Idle was 1C above ambient....

I'm not sure what most people use. I'd say try both and see which one you like.

Hmmm, what ambient temps do you have? I'm actually not looking for my max temps, I'm looking for overclocking stability software.

I have OCCT 4.0 installed in my system and it maxes out my GPU up to around 95C! The old version of OCCT only maxes it at around 78C. I'm not sure what difference did they do to make 4.0 more taxing.

Ok. Is there a guide that I should follow in overclocking the GPU? I'm a newbie in GPU overclocking.

Ambient temps is anywhere from 19C to 22C. Typically it'll start it at around 20C and the case will get upto about 21-22C just cauz the VRM temps heat up the case a little... I haven't tried OCCT with my 580 though. I know it'll fry my PSU if I run that test so I'm stayin away from that. I could run OCCT though on my 560 for hours without any problem...
I freak if anything gets over 80C. Now that I'm moving more toward watercooling, its more like freaking if it hits 65C...

I'm drooling over your temps! I hate my country being a tropical one

But are my temps normal though given my ambient?

But they have sorted this in the new 300 drivers

It does mean I'm using a beta driver. But the only difference between beta and WHQL drivers is that M$ has tested the WHQL ones!
So IMO the beta drivers are fine

301.24 BETA drivers that most of us are using

With the new drivers, even though I enable VSYNC and the FPS drops below 60 I won't be dropped to 30fps because the drivers were already fixed? Or should I still enable adpative vsync?
