I've been reading some specs on my mobo and according to asus this board supports quad crossfire x, does that mean 4 gpus? Physically looking at my board u have 2 pcie slots and 2 pci slots for a total of 4, would I be able to run 4 gpus on this board??? Like 2 more 6570s? Sorry if this seems dumb to some of you but iam really confused at what my options are over here

You can support 2 GPU's One for each PCI Express Slot , as well as your on-board GPU.

Just remember your second PCI-E Slot is only X4 Bandwidth you will get a Performance Gain but not anything crazy.

Expansion Slots 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)
2 x PCIe 2.0 x1
2 x PCI

I was wrong didnt double check the onboard GPU.

Like he said consider a new Mobo.

4x isn't going to be a substantial performance loss with a 6570....

He doesn't need a new motherboard guys. He just wanted clarification on what "quad Crossfire X" was. Geez.

The performance hit you would take is hardly substantial. It's been proven over and over. I dont know where this "ZOMG x16 bandwidth or get out" attitude came from, but it's silly.

Problem is people say they want to get a 6570 and most end up getting something else. Then come back and ask why they aren't getting more performance.

So quad cf is 2 cards from the dual gpu cards like that devil 13 card right? I was wondering how in the world i would fit 4 cards in this mobo when i only have 2 pcie slots lol, to that guy that said change my mobo i think ill keep it thanks! maybe swap yours out if u arent happy with it? Everybodys an expert these days thats the main problem with our site!

Well what they mean by "4 cards" is dual gpu cards like the Devil 13 that you mentioned. There is physically no way to get 4 cards into the system so you would have to rely on dual gpu cards (2 cards in 1) to get the quad crossfire out of 2 PCIe slots. But honestly if you were seriously considering dual gpu cards then you would have the cash for a better motherboard. Not saying that you need a new one. I have the M5A97 and have been nothing but happy with it. It has done everything I have asked of it and still continues to impress me. The only bad thing about this board in my opinion is the brown pcb.

WE just recommend a new Mobo because most users who buy Boards with More than One Pci express Slot are looking to CF.

They end up spending 300 $ On GPU's , And then get upset when they show very little performance increase , we check the mobo turns out they have an X4 Second slot.
Theres nothing wrong with keeping your Mobo just yeah.

mx u are soooooo right about the brown on the m5a97! I dont know what they were thinking lol.Do u know of any other cards that are dual gpus that dont cost an arm or a leg, like something around 250 range? I will hang on to it until it dies out or just give it to the wife and my daughter for them to use it, and thanks guys for clearifying the quad crossfire for me i honestly thought u get 2 pci-e cards and 2 regular pci cards and combine them all on the mobo

Well, im not sure your going to be able to find anything as far as AMD other than the 6990 or 7990 that is going to be 250. The only dual gpu card right now that I can see is the GTX 460 2win but that's an nvidea card. May I ask why you are looking for 2 GPU's? Mabe we could find an alternative if your looking for performance increase and not a 3 monitor setup or something.

To be honest I know theres better alternatives like getting a single 7970 and calling it a day, iam just kinda experamenting to see what i can do with lower end stuff.Ive looked into the 5000 series from radeon do u know if they have any of the older generation dual gpu cards? Iam not looking for something in perticular but i think it would be cool to have 4 gpus
