The geminII is a very good cooler. I have the older S version in my wifes machine and it keeps a slightly overclocked 965BE tame and it is absolutely inaudible. Also keeps a lot of air moving towards the vrms and ram

Yeah what was NICE about the older S version of the GEMIN II was you could use the optional bracket and install TWO 120 mm fans ... the newer GEMIN II S524 does away with that in favor of a single 140 mm fan, but I guess has more surface area of heatpipes and fins ?

Slightly higher surface area, unless the fin density was also altered. Though, the double 120 definitely sounds better

It seems to me like it was two 80mm or two 90mm I'm not sure it held two 120's, I would be using it like this now if it were the case

Nah, just cut the top few fins off. After all it worked for this guy.....

My bad, I guess you're right ... http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=2729 ... I could have swore it was dual 120 mm's

... I still have it though and use it to cool my other rig. Great budget cooler, as is the Hyper 212+.

You could, (and I don't reccomend it) saw off the heatpipes and runwater or some sort of liquid from them, however you'd need a pump and maybe a reservoir. There's pics of people doing this on ocn. You're best off modding the case or getting another cooler.

Yeah I'm just getting the GeminII and calling it good.

The use of a Gemini may depend upon the wattage of your CPU. I recall a Gemini Review that recommended that it not be used on a CPU over a certain Wattage. I think it was 100 Watts but you will need to do a search for reviews of it. Hopefully, you may find it if you are lucky.

We'll have to disagree on what looks awesome.

The cooler is compatable with Socket 2011 chips so I assume an 1155 i7 should be fine. I'll post some pictures and temps when it gets here.

Thanks, but my CM GeminII S524 is on the way.

Thanks for the input. I'll test it when it gets here and see how it does. If it does bad I'll return it, simple. However, from the reviews I've seen it will run an i7 920 no problems so I assume my 95W Sandy will do better.

Thanks. If it turns out to not be so good I'll consider that one.

I just realized the one you ordered wasn't the same model I had. Mine was a GeminII M4.

i'm having the same dilemna. i have a 4U rackmount chassis like OP and i'm trying to get a better cpu cooler. i was thinking about the hyper 212 then decided it wasnt good looking enough and thought i'd get the silverarrow but that's even taller at 160mm. even worse for me is i have ripjaw like memory. so i'm limited memory side and on top.....

i thought if the silverarrow wouldnt work i'd modify the case but i'd rather not cause i put my amp on it.

so what would you guys recommend... i just want a good looking cpu cooler that'll keep these phenom II x4 965 temps low and looks good. no overclocking.

this is my current cpu cooler 138mm high

i was hoping to get a top of the line cpu cooler that i could carry it to my next build.

my current temp is 57 C /

I'd say the GeminII S524 should fit the bill nicely for you as well. It might fit over the RAM, it says 47mm RAM clearance, and I'd say it looks pretty decent. I'll be posting when I get the cooler on Wednesday so if you keep up with the thread you can see the rusults.

Also I gotta say, nice power supply.
