2 580's, 3 ssd's, ax1200 psu, noctua heatsink, i5-2500k. why would you disrespect all that good hardware with a $200 monitor?
I agree, a good 120Hz monitor is definitely worth it. I would recommend the BenQ XL2420T : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014270.

It is amazing, and I really notice the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz. It is still worth it as an investment monitor even if you are not planning on playing in 3D.

I went to a bunch of stores tonight. Ended up buying a Dell ST2421L for $183.59. It was on display and it looked good. I couldn't really do much testing because it didn't have a mouse or keyboard attached to the computer it was plugged into.

It's a slight improvement over the two LG EB2442T-BNs I (foolishly) bought from NewEgg last week, in terms of brightness and contrast. Black still looks washed out and there is still noticeable ghosting. I've been researching monitors online all day. I'm starting to think all LCD LED monitors have this terrible ghosting, and that people just don't notice it or care. I will be returning this Dell monitor tomorrow, and my two LGs Monday.

I looked at a lot of ASUS monitors, but the reviews were really mixed (I don't count dead pixel or DOA reviews). I just want a 24" monitor that's like my trusty LG W2253TQ-PF; one that doesn't display black as a washed out mess and one that has minimal ghosting. It doesn't have to be 3D either.

Colours, even once calibrated, are not really good. But honestly, it is probably the best 120hz 'gaming' panel out there.

I have a 600$ 120hz monitor and a 2560x1440 IPS monitor i paid 260$ for..

IPS is better at gaming for everything besides Fasst paced games such as shooters...

Everything else the Eye candy of 2560x1440 Wins out.

I bought an lg (see sig) ips monitor which retails for around 190 now and I play lots of shooters and see no ghosting ever. The monitor is so good for gaming that 4 of my friends have bought it and not a single complaint from any of us. The picture looks so much better than my old Samsung tn monitor and after calibrating the display everything looks perfect.

Love this monitor and for me price is just as much as performance so this is a serious winner.

They aren't. The rated response time is never remotely close to what it really is. Most of them are around 22 ms, and considering their input lag, most are around the 16 to 25 ms mark. So they aren't good for gaming. Unless you like to game at 30 fps, then go at it.

The response time for your LG monitor is rated at 5ms. The new LG and Dell monitors I have are rated at 5ms and there is noticeable ghosting. Would going with a 2ms GTG monitor reduce the ghosting? My old LG monitor has a response time rated at 2ms GTG and I don't really notice any ghosting.

The rated and actual are completely 2 different stories. Most of those tests are done on 0-100-0 scales (white to black). You don't ever, really, witness this is real world use. You're typically looking at 20/40-100-20/40 in the gradient scales. If you want no ghosting, you'll have to go with a 120 hz panel.

2ms GTG would be better, but still, the real response time is different.

IPS are pretty bad for contrast ratios, btw. Most 'real' constrast ratios, once calirbated properly, are around 400-750:1.

I have a 120hz monitor and a Cat Leap IPS side by Side.. and i tell you No difference in gaming besides Fast paced FPS. And still it is not Huge.. Only if your some kinda pro gamer..

And for everything else the pure sexyness of 2560x1440 more then makes up for what it lacks vs 120hz in a FPS...

And i Perfer the 120hz monitor cause i can barely read the Text on the catleap.. im lookig to trade the Catleap for a 120hz 27inch monitor heh...

Exactly. No two companies seem to use the exact same system for their lag. Ergo don't trust what you read whether it says 2ms or 20.

I'm intrigued at this illegible text on the catleap, never heard of that before personally
