I'm going to a triple monitor setup and I'd love to see what some of your triple monitor setups look like. I'm leaning towards 1x27" (center) with 2x24" monitors on the outside so if anyone has a setup simlar to that with a bigger monitor in the center I'd LOVE to see what that setup looks like. However I'm still considering both 3x24" vs 1x27" + 2x24" so all pics are welcome

This is an old setup I used to have. 27"1080p in the middle, and the 2 outside are 19" 1440x900.

Though now I currently have all 3 monitors 27" 1080, but that pic is what I used to have. Sounds like what you're looking for

Yes indeed, thanks for sharing. Did you get sick of the mismatched monitors and wanted all 3 to be the same size or just felt you wanted bigger screens all around?

That's what I've been debating. I'm still unsure whether I should go for a nice 27" in the middle of the 2 24's I bought or just get another 24 so it looks nice and allows me to use eyefinity in the future if I want to. Eyefinity requires a lot of GPU power though right? My 670FTW probably wouldn't suffice?

When it comes to eyefinity...you want GPU's with plenty of RAM. 3gb is sufficient...

I see, well I only have a single 670FTW so I'd need to go SLI and I'd need to use Nvidia Surround which requries SLI anyway if I remember correctly.

I honestly have trouble playing without my triple monitors anymore, I'm a spoiled brat. I feel like I have blinders on when I play on one monitor (Planetside 2 cough cough)

I think the uncut silicon wafer (framed above) is a nice touch xD

Also 3x 27 inchers.

If you have a 2gb card and then you SLI or even Crossfire.....it will still utlize ONLY 2gb...you cant think that 2 cards with 2gb will equal to 4 gb. Its just not how SLI or Crossfire would work....

Awesome! What resolution are those 27's?

I see, I guess triple monitor gaming is not in my future then. I guess it was a stupid thought anyway since I barely game on 1 monitor now haha.

They're all 1080p. Anything higher would slap my wallet even harder xD not to mention the extra horsepower I would need for anything higher... My 690 is just right for this (although I barely scrape the 2GB limit a lot of the time, it's depressing)

Damn, your 690 struggles with 3 1080p monitors huh? I guess my notion of swapping my 670FTW for a 7970 to run Eyefinity was a pipe dream

Well, a 7970 will run games fine, just not on max settings. My 690 maxes pretty much everything (with FXAA and sometimes a setting or two turned down, usually due to brand new games not having 100% optimized drivers yet), but I am on the cusp of needing more VRAM. The 7970 has plenty of VRAM - you will be able to play most modern games on medium settings, if not slightly above. I had bad experiences with AMD's Eyefinity though, I ended up selling my dual 7970's and going green team.

The only thing that has actually hit the 2GB wall so far and "crapped itself" is the new Unigine Valley benchmark in Surround on max. Everything else just barely sits under 2GB usage. I think in the future, games will stop being so 2GB friendly.

7950 and 7970 is more than capable of running eyefinity 5760x1080. You start losing your fps once you start going for that ultra setting eye candy.....

What kind of issues did you have with the 7970? I'd like to stick to single GPU for triple monitor gaming if possible but a 690 is just out of my price range by a LOT.

What about dual 7970's? If I'm going to go triple monitor I'd like to be able to play games on high settings. If I stick with just 3x24" monitors and sell my 670 I might have enough to buy two 7970's.

Nice! Let me know how it works out for you, I'm very interested since that's the kind of setup I'm looking for.

Single 7970 worked fine.

Eyefinity worked fine on one card.
Dual 7970s worked fine one single monitor.

But when I used Crossfire AND Eyefinity together, everything stopped working correctly. Vsync didn't work, everything stuttered (every single game I tried, I couldn't get a single game to run smoothly), there was one permanent tear line even on the desktop, games had terrible tearing (worse than what you usually see with vsync off)... clean installs of Windows, all driver versions, spent weeks troubleshooting... nothing. So I sold them. There is a massive thread of people trying to figure it out with me. Basically if you can think of it, we tried it.

Most people don't have such problems, I don't believe - but I sure did. I wasn't very happy with the red team. Haven't had any problems since going green team again. I'm no fanboy, it worked great when it wasn't crossfinity, and I would still suggest it for more basic configs. But I would be at least somewhat wary if going crossfinity. I like my green team because everything works without having to do nearly as much dicking around. Lost some good money over that ordeal.

Well, even when it was just Crossfire on a single monitor, I did have more problems and had to do more tweaking than green team, but I'd still suggest it for people on a tighter budget.
