I previously owned a mx518 and when i do use it for my laptop its not as comfy as the DA. For me atleast.

I love my Deathadder. Easily the best mouse I have ever owned. Fits my hand perfectly (I have kind of small but thick hands), and I have almost never run in to an issue with it. Granted I could understand for people with bigger hands they would not feel the same way.

The Death Adder has correction built in so it will never be as accurate as a MX518.

In terms of shape.

MS IntelliExplorer 3.0 > Deathadder 2013 > MX518

In terms of performance.

Deathadder 2013 > MS IE 3.0 > MX518

I owned a couple of each.

For me the death adder 2013 has increased my headshot ratio by literally 50% and my K/D ratio in games by ALOT so maybe its a matter of how the person uses the mouse and system i am not sure. But my K/D ratio and headshot ratio skyrocketed going from a mx-518 to a death adder...and i was on my third mx-518 used it for the better part of a decade.

The new G400 based around the MX518's design has zero correction the last time that I checked.

As for those saying that the Death Adder increase their accuracy and what not, that is probably true but using a mouse with zero correction increases your accuracy even more so because muscle memory plays a bigger role in your aiming.

Correction is basically the mouse making assumptions and not allowing the controller of the mouse to get full control of the mouse's movement.

I know that when I moved from the MX518 years ago to the MS Intellimouse 3.0 after a few weeks my aim was at the top of the top when it comes to CS (I was out fragging some of the top players in CS at that time). There's a huge difference in control going from a mouse that has correction to no correction. When using a low sensitivity combined with a mouse with no correction, aiming becomes something that you never think about and feels as natural as aiming in real life.

I'm actually thinking about picking up an Intellimouse 3.0 again (broke my last one), I'm using a cheap Logitech M100 right now and it's extremely inaccurate.

How in the heck do you guys break your mice and keyboards so darn much? I've been a heavy pc exclusive gamer for over 10 years now, and I've broken one mouse and zero keyboards.

Oh, and that broken mouse? Yeah, I fixed it with a dab of superglue and about 5 minutes of patience. It's still being actively used today as the primary mouse for my secondary computer.

The first gen Deathadder had almost peerless tracking and a great shape, but little else in it's favor. Subsequent generations lost that sensor, leaving very little incentive to purchase them. Build quality is poor, and their drivers were poor and have recently progressed to utter bloatware.

it's been 4-5 years since i bought my deathadder. still rockin it every day like it was new...

I also bought 3 mices since i got it, sold all those and kept the razer hahaha

Wish my MX518 did not break. It was dropped on the floor and cracked. ---> Kids did it.

I tried the G400, but it did not have the same feel as the 518. The surface on them was different, G400 had a smooth feel, while MX518 didn't.

It's going to be very hard to convince the Logitech crowd here that a low quality product like Razer is "The Best Gaming Mouse".

I don't use laser mice for gaming, optical is the way to go IMHO.

I've heard that Razer (DeathAdder in particular) mice are very poor quality from about 10 different people I personally know who've owned them. They're all using Logitech now.
Same here. Been using the the MX-510 (basically the MX-518 without DPI adjustment) for almost 9yrs now and it's still running strong as my work mouse. All the rubber on the sides have peeled off but the mouse is still chugging along.

I'm currently using the G400 as well and the DPI + and - makes a huge difference for me in BF3/BF4, especially when I hop into a heli or a tank, the DPI movement is much lower in vehicles but a click of a + and I'm back in business.

It's the opposite, MX518 has a glossy finish while G400 has a more "granulated" dull finish (slightly better grip IMO).

It's important to specify what "low quality" means. Deathadder is an excellent mouse from a purely performance, design, grip, etc standpoint. I don't doubt that.
The problem is Razer's notoriously poor quality control, it's unfortunate that people go through multiple Deathadders in a short time span....but they still have to keep going back to it because it's such a good mouse (when it works).

Durability and longevity is not something I expect reviews to cover. Oh well, we know what mouse we like right

I didnt mean the glossy or shine. The material used on the MX518 is different than G400, which is same as the G500.
I found the MX518 to have a better grip as you hand do not slide as easy over the G400.

If you take you finger over each, G400 will slide easily, MX518 will be a little harder. That is what I liked.

for the person that was asking about choosing between the G500 and G400, I have both and prefer the G400 for it's simplicity and sensor location. The G500 sensor on the bottom is slightly off center which seemed to mess with my accuracy a bit with certain sweeping motions. For most people it wouldn't be an issue but I play some fast based games with a lot of twitch aiming and have all that muscle memory built up from a centered sensor, so specific motions tracked subtly different than I was used to. I also personally did not like the g500 mousewheel, it takes a lot of force to click...no issue for web browsing of course but I like to utilize the middle mouse button click in fps games. I found that it required a lot more force than mx518 and also the G400 to the point it would affect my aim or other actions to use it. It's likely due to the fancy mousewheel they added on the G500 which has two modes (flywheel, or with click).

Regarding the sensors the laser sensor (G500) seemed to be more finicky with regards to surfaces, the G400 (optical) has been perfect so far and I'm not constantly having to check if some stray dust particle is on it.

The G400 is probably the closest modern mouse to the good ole intellimouse explorer. That thing was perfection for me

yeah if logitech could make one smaller gaming mouse i'd be all over it. i don't know why they are convinced that every gaming mouse needs to be the same size (massive)
