First of all lets talk about prices. Let's consider that the two GTX 760 DirectCU II OC together cost 418 Euro. Compare that to the 563 Euro you'd have to pay for the cheapest reference GTX 780 Ti we can find. Therefore this one high-end card is significantly more expensive than the two mid-range models.

To dive a bit deeper into the results, we start with performance differences in 3DMark graphics score where we see that the SLI of two GTX 760 is 14 percent faster than the GTX 780 Ti. In the next theoretical test we ran, Unigine Heaven, we see that the two 760's are on average 14 percent quicker than the GTX 780 Ti. In case of games it turns out the for example in The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim the GTX 780 Ti is about 3 percent quicker than the two smaller cards in SLI. A closer look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 shows the other end of the scale, where the two GTX 760 score 31 percent better than the single GTX 780 Ti. Overall it is interesting to see that the GTX 780 Ti is quicker in highly demanding games. Once again the reason lies within the amount of graphics memory, since the VRAM of the two small cards is just too small for games with huge textures or for ultra high resolutions.

Overall the two GTX 760 cards are performing really well and there is no doubt the two of them are seriously quick. But in case of the particular models we tested, the graphics memory is too small for the performance delivered, there will be the usual SLI issues, although NVIDIA is taking quite good care of that and last but no least there is the power consumption which is 43 percent higher than with one single GTX 780 Ti. If you're actually thinking about buying two GTX 760's make sure you go for models with 4 Gigabyte VRAM otherwise the GTX 780 Ti will be quicker playing games at ultra high resolutions. When it comes to price/performance, than the two GTX 760 in SLI are simply great. Since drivers are meanwhile quite well optimized for SLI, almost any new game is supported with well balanced profiles.

This review takes me back to the good old days of 460's in SLI vs the 480. 760's are a great deal at 219 and will only get cheaper. Makes you realize how overpriced the top end Nvidia cards are today.

Water is wet. When is the last time 2 mid range cards where not as fast as a single one? My bet is that the 860 sli will be faster and cheaper then the 880 and that the 960sli will also do the same again vs the 980. The 460 560 660 also did the same...

It is, but you will only be able to utilize 2gb of ram.

Also, this is kind of a "no duh" review. Nothing new here.

not necessarily. The major pro of 780 Ti vs 760 is upgrade path. When the 760's run out of juice, then what? Deal with 3-way SLI or upgrade entirely. Meanwhile, a 780 Ti owner, or any other GK110 owner, can just plop in a second card for cheap...

Yea but who does this realistically? In my personal experience and from what I have seen around here, you buy the best you can get and that is it. You then sell them off and get something different. I rarely see people adding a 2nd card down the road as it is most likely outdated and newer tech is out that trumps the old. You either are going to buy multiple cards at the same time or are going to stick with the one until you sell it and move up.

Obviously however adding another 760 is a helluvalot cheaper than getting a 780ti outright or selling the existing 760, which will net you peanuts comparatively vs the cost of a 780ti.

I downgraded from SLI 670's to a 780 (back when they were $650) because the promise of eventually going SLI 780's was just tooooooo great to pass up.

There are others that have this same......problem lol

I agree, that's probably true for most. My rig before this, I had two 8800 Ultras that I got at the same time. For my current PC, I got a GTX 570 Classified and said "I'll just get another for SLI when I need it." Well, that will not be happening. By the time you need it, the card is outdated. I don't want to spend money on another video card that is two generations old. Instead, I'd like to go for a GTX 770.

Not surprising, lol. Kind of boring to be honest.
