I couldn't really understand the need of a steam machine. I mean I get the idea and everything and I like it, but it doesn't seem to offer anything special that you couldn't build yourself

Most console gamers don't build PCs.

I wish there were more cases like this to build SFF pc's with insane amounts of power. For whatever it's worth, they did a great job compartmentalizing everything neat and tidy.

Something most people here don't seem to understand. Some people just want a plug and play option and when they're all finalized Steam Machines will be just that.

They did a fantastic job with it, and I wouldn't mind having a similar SFF case modeled after it ( internally at least, I think the face is butt ugly ).

Agreed with others, I'd like to see some SFF cases with horizontally mounted GPU's to keep the vertical height of the case down. Also: disgusting amount of thermal paste used on that HSF.

Pretty standard for most OEM's to be a little zealous on thermal paste

Just a reminder, there will be multiple version/levels of Steam Machines. You can get a lower version and just stream your games to your TV while your main rig does all the processing. Pretty awesome,

For watching Blu-rays.....? You could stream those from your main rig (or even a laptop if need be)

User upgradeability is primo (now origin will have to match that hahah for those battlefield games and what not

Assuming iFixit doesn't? They're as professional as it gets in the field of dissecting gadgetry. They also have some really good electronics gurus in there.

I was expecting it to be a reguar PC... but damn, that's as off-the-shelf as it gets, any PC that has touched my hands is way more custom than that!
