I was thinking about buying a Mac Pro but they have really crappy 5770 graphics cards in them. I was hoping that you could tweak it and put a 680 in there. Is it possible?

iirc you can, just be sure you buy a compatible one, 680 works basically, im not sure about the PSU tho, it might not have enough power for the 680 since it has 2x6pin whereas a normal 5770 has one 6pin.

YES, you can use a GTX680 in a Mac Pro. I use a GTX670 in my hackintosh with no software edits related to the graphics card. OS X 10.8 has supported the 650-680 since last summer.

Hi Guys,
I've got the gtx 680 working in my mac pro, but I've hit a snag...
It's not using the GPU for anything! Anything that refers to a GPU (istat menus for example) doesn't recognise that there's a GPU there to look at.
I was planning to use the 680 to accelerate Final Cut Pro. Any ideas?If not, I'll just have to send it back.
I know there's a 'mac edition'... which is nearly twice what I paid for this one - so if it's possible to make this one work I'd rather not pay the extra!
