Hey guys, quick question:
I've had the original Corsair H50 running perfect for the past 4.5 years now. No visible algae, little to no bents on the radiator at all. Daily use of 8-12 hours.
Would a leak at this point of its age be highly unlikely?
How much more months/years do you guys think i can pull off without it dying/leaking on me?

Everything is at stock.

It would, because normally you connect the pump to the CPU fan socket. You don't have to worry about the fans on the radiator because even an H50 could probably hold any CPU at a tolerable temperature even without fans, and if it wasn't on idle and you would be using it you would see it and usullly the motherboard starts beeping when the temperatures go to high, and if they go even higher it simply shuts down. Almost no way for it to burn out, unless you disable all the security features manually.

Once your CPU hits a specific temperature, it will shut off automatically.
Thanks for reminding me! Totally forgot about that

Would you guys recommend me to just use the H50 until it completely dies? I dont plan on overclocking anytime soon.

Are you saying that I wasted my money on some gentle typhoons? aha

I'd say go for it, no reason to upgrade if the temps are fine and you see no immediate problems, but it's always good to upgrade before things die, simply because of the hassle or the few days wait before you get the new components and install them.

EDIT: Ah no

I just ment that if the fans on the RAD die, it should be OK on idle.

You're right. I was thinking of going silent air cooling but not until I need it, as i do have a laptop as backup.

Since I haven't replaced the thermal paste for a good 2 years now, would adding new paste be ideal in terms of expanding the life of my H50? Or would it just help decrease the overall cpu temps?

I doubt it would have any effect on the cooler lifespan, and I don't think anyone can really prove you whether it has the efect or not

Replacing the thermal paste shouldn't effect temperatures to much either, usually it only effects them if it wasn't applied properly the first time, but seeing as you don't seem to have those problems it seems to be applied properly - but replacing it won't hurt either.
