Hello,
I have Kingston HyperX 4Gb, running at 1600Mhz, 1.65V with 9-9-9-27 timings. (KHX1600C9D3/4G I think)
Im newb at RAM overclocking, and... If it's possible, I want to overclock it to 1866Mhz.
I've googled that I should try to set 11-11-11-36 and then drop these timings, but system freezes under load even with these settings.
Can you help me?

What are your other hardware specs?

Specifically CPU, motherboard & power supply.

That memory should run at 1866Mhz with 10-10-10-28 2T settings @ 1.65v no issue.

Also need to know whether you are overclocking your CPU.

Sorry, forgot to insert rig into sig.
Yes, Im running FX-6100 at 4Ghz with stock voltage on Gigabyte's GA-970A-UD3 rev1.0. PSU is Thermaltake TR2 RX 650W.

Is that a single memory module? My gut tells me that those particular ICs may not have a lot of overclocking headroom in them (considering that the voltage spec is 1.65v to achieve 1600Mhz with standard timings).

The only thing I can think of is to up the CPU/NB to 1.20v and see if that helps.

Yes, it is a single module. I've tried 10-10-10-28 and it seems to work(System passed AIDA64's memory benchmark) even without changing CPU/NB voltage.
What software would you recommend for memory stress testing?
Thank you for your help!

Memtest 86+ is very good memory test. Start it up and let it run over night. If it passes without errors you can run something else like Memtest HCI from inside the Windows environment.

You can also use things like Prime95 and OCCT to test from within the Windows environment.

You're welcome! If you start having problems don't be afraid to bump the CPU/NB voltage a bit. Even something like +.02 volts over stock may be the ticket to complete stability.

Well then it's totally not worth it then, anything worse than 1866 CL10 probably isn't gonna be faster than stock even in benchmarks, so to be honest it looks like it's just a waste of time if you ask me.

It is possible that your RAM just cant.

I mean, there is ram, and then there is RAM for fun.

suggest maybe you look at an increase somewhere else, unless you are striving for 120hz or, gaming with 3/4 GPU's it wont really matter.

You really wont get a benefit unless you increase capacity perhaps.

OP - Post #8 is the first time you mentioned that you were also overclocking the FSB and CPU................................

When you say you "can't get it stable" what does that mean? Blue screen, no post, lock up?

Otherwise refer back to post #4

Well if you can get it to 1866 CL10 the go for it.
But 1866 CL11 is just not worth it IMO. It will give you different results depending on benchmark used.

I've said that it runs OCed in post #3. No, it runs with stock FSB.
"Can't get it stable" means that system freezes under Memtest HCI(I dont have usb stick for memtest86 atm). Ive tried to increase CPU NB voltage up to +0.05 with no change.
With stock CPU freq result is same.

I mean go for it if you manage to make it stable. Sometimes it can be a real pain in the a$$ to make the ram stable under desired settings, other times it may not be even possible at all.

My bad DDS. I went back and read post #3 again and I do see that you told us that the CPU was overclocked. By the same token, your AIDA screen shots show that your FSB is running slightly over stock (could just be the default BIOS value or AIDA could be reading it wrong).
