Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a new thermal paste as my old one, the IC Diamond 7, has finished. I've been out of the loop for awhile now and I've seen these new thermal pastes with very good performance and thankfully don't have that greasy, hard to apply form of the IC Diamond.

So after reading, I was down to these 3:

1- Arctic Cooling MX-4
2- Shin-Etsu X23-7921-5
3- Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra

So can anyone contribute as to how these perform compared to each other and if it's based on personal experience, that would be a major plus.

Thanks in advance guys.

Personally I'd go for GeLid GC-Extreme or Phobya HeGrease Extreme (same exact TIM under different labels) before I'd use MX-4 or Shin-Etsu's X-23-7921-5. I have used MX-4 before, still believe I have a tube around here somewhere, and it's a good TIM, but GC-Extreme is just better. That Shin-Etsu TIM has a 25% lower W/mK than GC-Extreme or MX-4 so I have a hard time believing it's really all that great.

The Liquid Ultra is another beast entirely, in another league than normal TIMs, but it also comes with some disadvantages. It is difficult to apply and remove and reportedly can damage blocks. Example.

That's weird, I've never heard of Gelid doing thermal paste, but I have been out of the loop for awhile!

I can't seem to find anything that compares the Shin-Etsu X23-7921-5 with anything.

Oh and I saw that cleaning Coollab's Liquid Ultra is a nightmare, and I'm not going to buy something that's going to repeat my experience with the IC Diamond but even worse!

So I'll research a bit on the Gelid GC-Extreme, and I'll get back to you guys

There are so many variables in T.I.M. testing it can be really hard to pinpoint the best for your application. That being said, personally I love Shin-Etsu X23-7921,and Gelid's GC Extreme is top notch also.Wasn't a huge fan of MX4 though it performed ok.
Gelid's comes in a larger quantity,Shin Etsu you are lucky to get 3 applications. Gelid GC Extreme is my vote.
