i am new to all this but i recently got a gigabyte gtx 970. i see it has 2 regular ports, 1 hdmi port and 3 display ports.

i connected the regular ports with 2 monitors and they show up fine. the 3rd i used hdmi cable but its just not showing. when i go to display properties the computer says i have 3 monitors attached but the 3rd one whichever the hdmi cable is on never shows. will getting a display port cable solve the issue? whats wrong? how do i set this up?

Have you gone into the Nvidia control panel and run "Setup multiple displays"?

yes. it shows that i have 3 monitors connected (out of the 4 monitors i have 3 connected right now . 2 on regular dvi cables and 3rd on a hdmi cable). so it should be displaying 3 monitors but only the 2 on the dvi is actually working. i tried switching the hdmi cable to a diff monitor and it doesnt work either.

just tried this and it didnt work. i will order a display port to hdmi port adapter tonight and see if that works.

Disconnect all your monitors, and connect one display to the HDMI port. Will the monitor show a picture then?

The card he has uses a proprietary design to achieve multiple displays with a couple different configurations. The only limitations can be found on this site.

He should be able to connect two DVI displays, and one HDMI display without issue. The only ports that should not be working in this configuration are the last two display ports.

OK well then ordering the adapter will not help him then.

Are you certain the hdmi cable is functional?

well it came with a tv mount i just bought so its new. i also have a another hdmi cable for my tv that i tried and that too doesnt seem to work. the computer itself acknowledged that i have 3 monitors hooked up but the cable thats connected to a monitor, that monitor doesnt turn on. if it helps this is the monitor i have...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058UUR6E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

i got 2 of those and 2 of the older monitor type and all of them have the hdmicable slot in it so it should work...

So the monitor in question doesn't display anything with it being the only display connected via the single HDMI port? Do any of the other monitors show anything with them plugged into the HDMI port?

I ask this because I am curious as to whether or not this issue is present with only 1 display connected to the GPU. If you do get a signal with a single display connected to the HDMI port, then we can confirm that the port works.

i tried that. it just says DVI no signal and goes black. then when i use the regular dvi connectors it works fine.

was just about to ask about your input setting when I read that your monitor said DVI no signal.

I'm glad it was something simple ?
