You are by definition arguing semantics. And yes, it was a port, it just had a dedicated group of people working on the port.

Anti-aliasing: FXAA, MSAA and Nvidia TXAA supported.
Anisotropic filtering: up to x16 .
It sucked not having AA in GTA IV. Nice to see they're adding it in GTA V, and most importantly it's MSAA not just FXAA / PPAA garbage.

Pause game on focus loss.
So hopefully with this option turned off alt-tabbing while in a multiplayer game won't disconnect you if you don't tab back in within 10 or so seconds?

Post FX options: up to ultra.
In-game depth of field effects: on/off.
Glad depth of field is able to be turned off.
For the Post FX options though it says "up to ultra." Hope we'll be able to disable them entirely if we want.
I'm aware that stuff is usually configurable through inis and such but if they design some game mechanics to rely on the post FX we might be forced to play with them on.

Looking good so far.

I played this is the PS4 and while it overall looked good, the aliasing was HORRENDOUS, particularly in the city where you spend most of the time anyway. It made the game look like an 8 year old game. Can't wait to up those draw distances and run a bunch of AA on it. I'm pretty happy they support TXAA as I love how effectively it reduces jaggies while moving.

Port: it doesn't mean what you think it means.

Rockstar, themselves, outright said it's not a port. It's not a port - you're wrong. In fact, you sir are the Mayor of Wrongtown:p

Max Payne 3 is "not a port" in the same way that 99% of multiplatform AAA games are "not a port".

No, it's not a port in the way that during development of the console versions, they didn't take the console code and adapt it to work on PC's. It was done from the ground up for PC. You're still wrong. Stop trying to be right - it's a literal impossibility in this discussion. Port means what it means, it's not a broad term, it's not semantics, it's a specific term. A term that your personal definition of is skewed.

By your overly narrow definition (and yes, you are arguing semantics; if you think you are not, I suggest you look up the definition of semantics), no game is a PC port, since all games are written/built/coded on a PC and then "ported" to a console. I'm not sure you understand what "port" actually means as it gets used in gaming these days.

GTA V is clearly designed with consoles first and foremost in mind. You need look no further than a nearly two year delay to PC release to confirm this. Same with Max Payne 3 (several week delay) and basically all other multiplat AAA games. Multiplatform games are almost without exception designed with consoles, and not PCs, in mind (no, marketing/PR statements of developers don't count to discredit this... what would you expect them to say?). This makes the game a port on the PC, as the game has to be adapted to that environment in a secondary capacity.

Anyways, this is off topic. I'll just assume your "You don't know what a port is, and I don't know what semantics is" response

Wow this was a lot better than expected! My only hope is that SLI and CF works well out of the box.
This is shaping up to be the best pc version of a GTA game ever

For all we know its another gta4 with performance issues all over the place. Or worse, a stutterdogs.
Well, they did say they played the game in the article and didn't mention any issues as of yet...

No SMAA or temporal SMAA modes....

I was shown the game in 4K resolution running at 60fps. The PC Rockstar was demoing it on is outside the price range of most consumers, with an i7 5930k@3.50GHz, SLI GTX 980, 32GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, but that's just to show off how pretty it can look. Rockstar says that even average rigs won't have a problem getting great 1080p performance out of the game, which is encouraging. Scalability is a priority for them.

If the game was designed for console, then the resources used for the console were modified to run on the PC then it was a port.

If it was built from the ground up with entirely new resources then it was not.

If the only shared resource was 3D models and textures and everything around that was built from the ground up it is also NOT a port.

IDK who is correct but keep the above in mind.

What? No FOV Slider? Game is junk, cancel pre-orders, not even worth your time and effort.
Maybe the'll do better with GTA London but obviously they don't care. *Stabs ground with pitch fork*

hopefully no social club this time around.
even though MP3 was a great game and ran well, social club prevented me from playing it for months....it just straight up refused to connect to the servers to validate the key no matter what I did

Bad news, GTA V comes with social club.

I am not really keen of the Social Club. Due to its issues in Max Payne 3, I couldnt activate the game for a few days before the issue was addressed by Rockstar, not a cool experience to say the least.
