They continue to stay on my short list for exceptional mother boards and the fact that have had my back every rma I have had to run through them. So the name carry's a lot of weight but they are also pricing this very low with a strong looking pcb. I could care less how the fan runs. It wont be on my card very long no mater who I buy from.Originally Posted by jdstock76

My G1 is super quiet. My reference was NOT that quiet. Definitely a flawed review.
Epic!!!! Couldn't wait to open it up huh?!
ASUS lives on brand recognition. They do put out a good product but how many people buy ASUS because of the name? Thoughts?
I can't wait for the HOF reviews.
And have we heard anything about the 980ti Metal or was that debunked already?
Nice one. Thanks for that.Originally Posted by [seandotcom]
Here's a quick rundown, no screenshots since I'm lazy. I'm not really a GPU overclocker so I'm sure this can be improved
STOCK @ Auto Fan
Idle Temp: 46
Load (Firestrike): 71
Load (Valley): 76
Firestrike Overall: 16400
GPU Score: 19065
Valley: 4118 (98.4 AVG FPS)
OC'd (+80 Core/+350 Mem) @ 55% Fan speed (same noise as case fans)
Idle Temp: 35
Load (Firestrike): 64
Load (Valley): 67
Firestrike Overall: 17323
GPU Score: 20709
Valley: 4402 (105.2 AVG FPS)
how do you find fan noise under load? silent? would also like to see what rpm the fans spin up to under load.Originally Posted by [seandotcom]

It's natural. MSI and eVGA re-used their cooler designs from the GTX 980 (not sure about Gigabyte).Originally Posted by lapino
Since it's very difficult to judge noise levels, maybe this is a better comparison : anyone upgraded from a GTX980 which was very silent/cool and can compare it to the GTX980Ti version. Getting hotter/louder cards regardless? Or is it possible to get a card that somewhat produces the same low noise volumes.
Excellent. This I like to hear. I'm favouring the Strix now. Will wait for more peeps to give their words.Originally Posted by Cool Mike

First impressions:
Very nice looking card. The Red metal GPU Saver on the backside look nice in my windowed case. From an engineering point of view the GPU saver is useful. Adds support around the GPU and I could imagine dissipates some heat.
The red pulsing LED on the side pulses at the same rate no matter the load.
Noise level is about the same as my case fans and AIO CPU water pump at max load. you can hear it but no where near loud. Have my fan speed set to about 60% at 70C. Temp max 72C running 4k res.
I do not like GPU Tweak or Tweak 2 overclocking software. seems buggy. As everyone knows, Afterburner is the best.
My best stable overclock: +80 on the core (1270Mhz Base, ~1485Mhz boost at full load over an extended amount of time. At these settings getting a Fire strike graphics score ~20,800. 18,050 total score on my Rig.
+500 on the memory (8200 Effective) I was surprised with the memory overclock. Above average. Has been very stable.
I am using HDMI 2.0 and operates flawlessly. NOTE: Make sure and purchase a HDMI 2.0 cable that supports the bandwidth. I purchased one that was a thin version, meaning small diameter cable and had many problems. Went with a 2.0 larger diameter and works perfectly at 4K@60Hz.
Packaged well.
Price was lower than I thought it would be.
A very solid piece of hardware.![]()
