After seeing some reviews for the G502, I wanted it so much. Fortunately, I research the crap out of anything I am going to buy. I found out that many people have tracking issues, feet/skate peeling issues, and some other issues. Should I risk it and buy it or buy something else? Suggestions please and thank you.

A failure?

My G502 is the best mouse I've used to date (long time MX518 user and more recently a G500s).

I haven't heard anything about tracking issues. The sensor is the best I've used (absolutely zero acceleration).

The only issue I've heard about was a clicking issue (mouse would auto click or something like that) but it was fixed in the firmware update Logitech recently released.

If you have an issue with the feet, just email Logitech and they'll send you a new set.

Too heavy, sniper button useless, scroll wheel is too heavy and too slippery, bad mousefeet design on older batches.

But ignoring that, it's the best mouse sensor you can get atm, and the shape is pretty ok to palm.

And that is your opinion of the mouse. I happen to like the "sniper" button as I remapped it to something more convenient in game. The weight is also kind of where I want it and the skates, while not the greatest, are still slick and glide really well on the various pads I'm using.

See not everyone feels the same way about the mouse.

The g502 has been great no tracking issues here definitely seems more consistent than my g700. I don't think the mouse is to heavy, but I came from a heavy mouse g700 it helps me keep more control. I ve also found the sniper button way more convienent than lowering dpi quick than readjusting. I also hated that rough textured plastic coating on the old products g700 mine was chipping off where my thumb went. The 502 dosnt have that the feel of the plastic feels good to me. My only complaint because nothing is perfect is the dpi buttons. For games like bf4 some of the armor and gun positions in vehicles are slow and Turing up the dpi helps and it's a little harder to find those buttons at first. Also if it mattered the sensor seems to be dead center, instead of off center like their other mice not sure if it makes a difference.

Look on the forums for many OEMs mice. There are plenty of complaints to go around so it's not just limited to the Logitech G502. Some batches may be bad or not all of the shipments are 100% (if that's even possible for anything). If you get a bad one then return it, if you get another bad one then move on to somewhere else.

Most of this just comes down to personal preference. I actually love the weight right out of the box. You can obviously add / redistribute weight with the included weight kit, but I guess if you like a really light mouse the G502 might not leave you with too many options.

I do agree with you about the scroll wheel though (really my only gripe). A 3rd setting right smack in the middle of the free scrolling mode and the click mode would be perfect.

g502 is a great mouse. tons of cool features, great specs, and pricey. love how you can set the dpi to anything and every step is just as accurate as the other. every person has their own preferences, though. i ended up returning mine and getting a g100s which is 1/5th the price. love the simplicity, and smaller size for my tiny hands and fits my grip better.. though i did really like the g502 as well. my only real gripe with it was that the scroll would sometimes click left/right when i wanted to push it down. my own fault for not clicking down straight enough i guess.. but with simpler mice you don't have to worry about this and to be honest i never really found myself using any of the extra features or buttons on the g502. also the scroll wheel would make a slight grinding noise and rattle a bit when i moved the mouse fast .. though the scroll wheel had a very satisfying feeling when scrolling. for what it's worth i had no problem with my g502 mice feet and found them to be very smooth and tracking was perfect. all mice have their pros and cons.

The current sniper button design causes problems with large hand users, it gets clicked accidentally from time to time (though you can disable it, it's still annoying)

Weight - a lighter mouse is always better (since the G502 is marketed for FPS in their promotional videos) - too much weight causes additional momentum which makes it hard to stop the mouse on plastic mousepads/mousepads with low friction.

The issue with the feet is not the glide, it's the quality of the adhesive - older batch will peel (there's 2 layer of feet)

Large hand full palm grip users may have issues with sniper button placement.

I have long, big hands and have never once hit the sniper button by accident because the mouse does not rest against the palm of my hand.In fact, it is a bit of a stretch for me to reach it if I wanted to. My only complaint with it was that I would accidentally hit the DPI+ button during hectic moments because the LMB is relatively thin. It really only bothered me for the first day or two, I quickly got used to it and have not hit it once since.

The feet perform much better on a hard pad, but I agree that the design is terrible, and is probably what is holding up aftermarket feet manufacturers. I cannot wait to get a set of Hyperglides on this mouse...

Failure? Hardly. There are several things that come down to personal preference (as with anything), like the scroll wheel, the weight, the infamous sniper button, etc. But putting personal preference aside and looking solely at the mouse for it's merits, it's probably the best technical package out there right now.

I bit the bullet and bought it from Best Buy. Immediately it felt different from my G600 which is to be expected. Is it a good different? Yes. I like the feel . I'm not a huge fan of the scroll wheel but it is only because my G600 wheel is much smaller and tighter. I'll get used to it, and I like the free scroll feature. Gripping is not an issue. I like the mouse.

- Too heavy.
- Too slippery (due to the useless rubber on the sides). I still do not understand why they put rubber on the sides.
- Glides like total garbage. Probably due to the weight and god awful feet.
- Cord is beyond thick and is not very flexible.
- Wheel rattles a lot if you move it around quickly.

What mouse are you using?
- Weight is personal preference. I actually have 2 of the extra weights in my G502.
- Mine glides like a dream on my cloth mouse pad.
- The sides are NOT rubber. They are a textured plastic and I have no problems lifting. Maybe you have really sweaty hands.
- My cord is actually one of thinnest braided cables I've seen. It might be a little on the stiff side but is not even close to thick.
- The wheel has been a pleasure to use as well, very defined steps in the clicky mode and almost no friction whatsoever on the free-scrolling mode. I just wish they implemented the new "smart shift" that's on the new MX Master on the G502.

After trying the G303 and G402 shape at home (and G502 in a store), I personally concluded that I'd rather use my 3 year old deathadder due to the shape. Just fits my hand better. The logitech sensors are way better than my old DA though... (so I might eventually get a DA Chroma)

Depending on your grip you might enjoy the mouse a lot, or not. Try it!

Also I wouldn't worry too much about the thing breaking, I mean any mouse can do that.

Mind elaborating a bit?
And I like the G502. I wish I could compare it to other shapes, sensors and switches though.

- Yes, and that's why it's too heavy.
- Mine glides like ass on my QcK.
- The sides are rubber. So what mouse are you using exactly? Highlighted is all rubber. Try running a nail through it all if you don't believe me.

- The cord doesn't hold a candle to a Roccat mouse for instance. THEY are flexible and thin.
- Wheel is nice, I'm not complaining about that. But it is heavy and it will rattle a lot when moving the mouse from side to side.
