Which system can play both Mario Kart and Super Mario Brothers?

Super Mario Brothers was released in 1985 on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Super Mario Kart appeared around 1992 on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Mario Kart 64 was the second version not the original.

If you want only one system, get the Super Nintendo with Super Mario Kart and also Super Mario AllStars which was a re release of the first four Super Mario Brothers with 16bit graphics and save feature, so no starting at the first level every time you turn on your system! As a kid I found the re release of super mario brothers much more enjoyable, the ability to save was so nice! I was able to play through every single level on all the games, and not have to mess with darn warp zones or alternate dimension pottery vases, or magic whistles every time i played the game like I had years before on the NES.

1 Super Mario Brothers
2 Super Mario Brothers "The Lost Levels" this was never on NES it was on the FAMICON JAPAN ONLY using magnetic disk to save your levels.
3 Super Mario Brothers 2
4 Super Mario Brothers 3

ALSO! With the Super Nintendo you can get the game Genie!! And then have some real fun by altering the game in real time to do many fun tricks and mods. That's not all you can also get the SUPER GAME BOY and play all your orginial game boy carts, on your SNES with ACCELERATED GRAPHICS! Yes, the Super game boy would add color to games and increase the resolution with some image smoothing.

Game Genie ( NOTE THE GAME GENIE ONLY WORKS ON THE ORIGINAL SNES, NOT THE RE RELEASE SNES COMPACT RELEASED IN 96. ) The logic boards were slightly different between the two, the first release SNES had actually better components and preformed better than the SNES COMPACT.

The two United States Versions, ON the LEFT 1st and better. ON the RIGHT COMPACT, less logical process capibility due the different logic board. (Purpose was to bring the SNES price WAY DOWN) Since the N64 was launching.

Super game boy / Shown in use.

As a kid I felt the SNES was the best systems ever, I had just as much if not more fun on the snes vs. N64.

Please correct me if I am mistaken, but if you own the same and system, then the rom and emulator is no longer illegal, since it is consider a back up to your purchase. Assuming that the rom is EXACTLY the same as your physical cartridge, SAME code version, same region. Europe version are NOT US and then your are illegally playing the game. Everything must be apples to apples. I believe I read an article saying this back when planetemu.net went viral in the early 2000s, at the same time Napster was all over the news, and the media was in a copyrighting frenzy.

worth the money to have something that works out of the box.
Hum, what was the problems you had with the emulators? I've had very successful results. I've played Mario Kart 64 in 4k using a retina macbook pro and I was blown away!

As mentioned before, the SNES is an option, but if you want, a Wii U (which is bacwards compatible with an original Wii) will also work. Super Mario All-Stars was released on disk for the Wii, Super Mario Kart, is available on the Wii U virtual console, Mario Kart 64 is available on the Wii virtual console. Additionally, each mainline Mario game from the original Mario Bros (vs.) up through Super Mario 64 is available through the Wii U virtual console & all but the original vs. are available on Wii virtual console. If you share a TV, the bonus of being able to play on the Wii U gamepad while someone else uses the TV may make it worth having over the originals. If it were me, I'd go with the Wii U just for the added flexibility, but hunting down a working condition SNES & N64 might be worth it if you're also interested in some of the games that haven't been ported to modern consoles. There are quite a few good ones.

Yes, the Wii U is the way to go. It has the ability to play every Nintendo console game ever made, if you take the necessary actions to make GameCube games work within vWii.

Dang! Ive been out of the Wii U loop, havent turned mine on in over a year! Didnt know all of these porting had taken place!

There's many official VC titles for NES, SNES, N64, Wii, DS and GBA. The others you can still run but through vWii mode (which still supports Wii Shop Genesis, TurboGrafx-16, Arcade, Neo-Geo, etc.) and for the more "adventurous" it's still possible to run Homebrew emulation.

You have to dump the firmware needed to run the emulator from your console and the ROM from your cartridge, including any piracy protection (and leave it unaltered) otherwise emulation is illegal.
