Hi everyone i've been having this issue for as long as i can remember since i've built this pc about 2 years ago but never looked into it, but now it seems to be getting worse. What happens is that during the day the tiles, icons, basically everything in my start menu disappears if i hover my mouse over some of the areas the icons would reappear it's like a glitch or something I can't figure it out. After I restart my computer it works fine till in happens again. It usually happens once a day. My specs are as follows:

Windows 10 64-bit home edition
Intel i7 4930k not OC'd
16gb ddr3 @ 1866 (XMP)
Rampage IV Black Edition motherboard
SLI'd 780 ti's evga superclocked
500gb 840 evo samsung ssd (primary drive) + 1tb western digital HDD

For troubleshooting so far i've done a "reset this pc" feature in windows 10 on Friday i chose the quick option and only formatted the OS drive when that didn't work I tried to the more in depth formatting again only on the OS drive and i just did that today but the problem is still happening. So not sure what the issue is any advice would be appreciated. I'll attach a pic to try and give you an idea of what I mean

As you can see from the pic my start menu is bare you can't even see the power button and those 2 tiles that are there only popped up after i hovered my mouse in the area.
I'm running the latest windows update as well.

Hello dude, i having similar issue as yours

http://www.overclock.net/t/1616959/weirdest-bug-ever-on-windows-10

I highly suspect monitor and displayport, something related to the scale/resolution

Not really sure but its my main suspect

Do you use displayport, 1440p resolution, does your monitor have 144hz+ refresh rate?

In my case it might be the o/c of refresh rate, i o/c on monitor settings, up to 165hz

I also have this issue it seems it happens after closing a game I am not sure if it is something to do with going full screen and G-Sync enabling. This is a wide spread issue there is a few threads on Reddit about similar issue. I can restart and everything comes right back.

Its an issue with kepler and sli. I have the same issue with my 660ti sli media center. As far as i know there is no fix for it. Its because the win 10 ui uses directx now and not gdi. So when you open a game full screen, it suspends the ui, which ends up paging out. When the ui comes back its a bit off until all the assets load back up. Just reboot after playing and youll be fine.

I having this issue even though i have cleaned install windows
Some icons on taskbar showed up and then disparead (transparent icon) such as Edge icon
Start menu sometimes doesnt work at all (cant even reboot)
Then i use Cortana in order to launch Edge for example, i didn't work
Its quite instable and start menu keeps occuring this glitch
When i reboot computer, it might work at 50%
I never saw such bug occuring on Windows in my whole life
i tried another standard monitor (HDMI, 1360x768) and cleaned install again, same thing happened
Maybe virus or video card issue?

It seems that it is a well known problem in Win10 with the start menu icons..Depending on if you're on a local account and used a live account afterwards for getting apps some fixes in the link might work for you,if you haven't checked them out already that is..

Thanks, it most likely a messed up with profiles
Indeed, i found defautuser0 folder in my hard drive partition
The weird thing, it has nothing to do with clean install, because it shows up at every clean install even though i didn't plug ethernet into computer
I will make clean install again and see if corrupted profile is still there
Anyway thanks for the input, my former assumptions were wrong (video card, display port, g-sync monitor, resolution...)

Glad it worked out for you or not

EDIT:

It seems like starting with a local profile and then adding apps from the store makes windows make all the "old" profile info owned by "Administrator" thus making them not appear in the start menu as stated in the webpage

Worth a shot,I guess
