ZOWIE BenQ G-SR

I've had the new BenQ G-SR for about a month now and wanted to give my feedback on it for a while but never quite got around doing the pictures and writing it up. A TL;DR would be:
It's just like the G-SR was, but all black and with great stitched edges, so my only points of criticism regarding the original G-SR have been fixed. That alone is a thumbs up from me.
Size
The dimensions are exactly like the original G-SR with 480 x 400 x 3.5 mm. For comparison a Qck Heavy is 450 x 400 x 6 mm, so the G-SR is a bit wider.

Material
The material of the top seems to be the same as previously, at least from the feeling of it I can't
make out a difference.

Some more comparisons below
with a Puretrak Talent

with a Qck Heavy

with a QPAD UC 50

with a Steelseries NP+

Build quality
Let me quote from my review of the original G-SR:
Quote:
Base and top surface together

Stacked on other pads for height differences
Speed + Control
I'll just repeat what I said for the first G-SR:
The top weave is a very smooth fiber that feels similar to but not just as smooth as the Puretrak Talent. However the glide is less directional, meaning on the Talent I can easily feel (and hear) a difference in glide from side to side and top to bottom. The glide from side to side on the Talent is notably smoother. On the G-SR the glide seems to be very even, however maybe slightly lighter from side to side.
The static friction is very low, I can make small adjustments easily and the mouse never "sticks" to the surface.
This is all still true for the updated G-SR.
What I heard a lot recently was that some people have trouble with the G-SR due to it having different glide in different humidity environments. I can't really comment on that as my room is quite dry throughout the whole year. On a very hot day where my arm is just sweaty it sticks to the pad, but that is true for every other pad (or surface in general). To be on the safe side: If you had troubles with the first G-SR I would not expect improvements with this model.

Now I said that stitched edges feel uncomfortable, but that is not true for the new G-SR for me. They are very smooth and actually bother my arm less than the sometimes sharper edges of unstitched pads. So the minus is not a minus here and it's an overall improvement for me. The glide is still the same as the day I got it, which is the main difference to something like the Qck for me, because those change their glide more over time. In my experience a fresh Qck is quite fast but gets slower quickly. The G-SR (so far) stays very consistent in its glide.
