I'm planning ahead for my next build which is gonna be a liquid cooled i9 skylake-x on a rampage vi extreme, I got a deal on a corsair obsidian 750D airflow for 150$ from a local store next to my home, should I buy it? or is there better alternative to it?

I don't mind paying a bit more for better looks and functionality

I'll recommend the Fractal Design Define S (for more room to watercool in) or the Define C (if you want a little more compact case that can still fit a lot).

The Define S is amazing for watercooling, you can fit a slim or moderately thick 360mm rad up front and a slim 360 up top. Or you could put a slim 420mm up top and a thicker 280mm up front. It's got a LOT of options and it's a nice case, great for air or water cooling!

If the define s was bigger I would be all over it. But sadly, it's too small. Yea you can fit slim radiators but there isn't any space for fans if you chose thick rads. Space is very limited. You also have to take into account the size of videocard with the define s.

For 150 the 750 is your best choice for watercooling. You can fit a thick 360mm on top with fans and a tick 240mm on front with fans as well plus the pump and reservoir and long gpu very nicely. Can't say the something with the define s :/
I wish there was a newer 750d successor with tampered panels with the front drive bays removed or something similar in size. The 750d has an outdated look compared to all of the tampered glass cases out there.

You must be talking about the Define C, because the Define S is a large case. Not as large as the 750D, but still a good size. You can fit a thick 360mm up front with fans and a thin 360mm up top with fans... not sure where you're getting your info from. regardless, you can fit a thick 360mm up front and a thin 280 up top, or a thick 280 up front and thin 280 or 420 up top. There are a lot of different things you can do with the Define S, very versatile case! I think your best bet is a thick 360mm up front and a thin 360mm or regular 240mm up top. or a thin 420 up top and a thick 280 in front. So many different things you can do in that case!

I hear ya. Before I got the Define S I had a 750D... I don't think I could've been more disappointed in a case. Couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

I have a 750D and it works ok for watercooling, wish there were more options for res mounting. I have a 360 up top and then a 240 in the front, looking at the phantek case it does look quite a bit nicer, the corsair is a bit cheap feeling.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 750D case, but I want more out of it. Cable management is trash on the backside and the drive mounts could of been designed better

I've got a Define S with ek coolstream pe radiators; 360mm in the top and 240mm in the front.

Its a great case no doubt, but i'm honestly really surprised how well my wife's new pc is doing. She has a core p3 with just a single ek coolstream pe 360mm radiator and it keeps her 4770k + 1080ti extremely cool. I'm not sure if its just because of the open case style, but i'm really amazed at how well it does. My 980ti + 4790k can really generate some heat inside the case.

i guess im gonna postpone buying the case for now, I wanna see how skylake-x will do in overclocking (specially that its being unsoldered and might have heat issues) and then why not wait and see what threadripper will do too, my 5930k @4.4ghz is still going strong so I'm not in hurry
