I just bought a Huawei Mate 9 on sale for $399, and I really love stock EMUI on it. This is coming from a guy who ran Nexus 6 with all kinds of custom ROMs, kernels, Magisk, etc... Stock EMUI has network traffic in status bar, bluetooth battery level in status bar, and lots of useful features. Battery life on this thing is nuts too.

Just my 2 cents, I would leave it on stock because it's using a HiSilicon Kirin CPU. Most other Android devices use Qualcomm based CPUs, so on Lineage and similar builds they get to take advantage of CAF. Just my guess that custom ROMs (unless based on stock, modded EMUI) won't perform as well given the CPU. Plus it's a lot easier to unlock bootloader and flash ROMs and such on devices like OnePlus, Nexus, Pixel, etc.... Huawei it's a little harder.

But it's up to you! And that's the beauty of Android. Try it and if you don't like it return back to stock.
