I just got an Asus M5a97 rev 1.02 and I tried everything different ram slots different RAM, tried two different graphics cards. Cleared the CMOS,tried the bios jumper. reseated ram but nothing. Help.
No display,no beeps,and Continues red flashing light from MEMOK

will it boot with one stick in dimm0 with the timings at default (or even slower if possible)?
edit...going off (fuzzy) memory here...but cant you press and hold the memok button with one stick in to put the ram in a safe mode kinda thing?
what psu are you running? if you are streessing the psu (big vid card), with a cheap psu you may not be gettign enough on the 12v rail

When I hold the memok button it does nothing it still blinks. But i checked he Asus website and it says when it blinks it’s normal so I’m not sure

I'm running an EVGA 430w 80plus( had an extra one tried the other one still no display.) but my specs are:
FX 4300
8GB adata 1600Mhz
Seagate HDD.
And the motherboard is an Asus M5a97 rev 1.02

>Turn the on the system, check if the cpu heats up with your finger. If the cpu and chipset remains cool and nothing happens dead cpu or bad motherboard.
>If the motherboard beeps "one long - two short" (memory error) is something else because that tell you that the Chipset and CPU is initializing. Quickly turn off the system before the cpu heats too much, install the cooler and insert a memory on the first bank
>With a memory installed the beep code should be "one long - three short" (VGA ERROR). This is totally normal because you don't have a graphics card installed
>Now insert the graphics card and see if actually post, if you have a old PCI graphics card use that is better for troubleshooting

When motherboard exhibit that problem at least from my experience is related with the BIOS, first try with another BIOS battery some motherboard don't post when is discharged or turn on the system without the battery. If still not working disconnect the PSU, take the battery out, do a clear CMOS, leave the motherboard for 30-1h without power and then try again.Originally Posted by Thebloodraven

Gotcha, So what do you think is better a USB programmer, or finding an old AM3 (phenom or athlon) to temporarily update the bios?

I've resurrected my Sabertooth twice from the dreaded boot device LED no post through USBF..

A Flashing MemOK LED indicates the board is attempting to boot with unsupported timings, this can happen prior to memory training (ASUS don't read SPD for some strange reason) and memory training takes 2 power cycles.Originally Posted by Thebloodraven

Press (not hold) the black button it'll cycle once or twice - when it finds the right settings u can go into BIOS and manually configure, or reboot a second time and it should be OK. . This usually only happens on first boot or when installing new RAM.
Also fyi USB Flashback on ASUS boards is an SPI flasher which means the bios can be flashed without a CPU - I know your M5A97 doesn't have USBF but the info might come in useful one day.

i have an asus motherboard. my cpu fan comes on the memOK light shines once but i cant for the life of me get display or post.
i have replaced the ram more than once and even put in a brand new cmos battery but nothing. i even got the manuel and made sure my ram is compateble and stil nothing with a gpu and with out. please help my current motherboard cant take and i5core prossesor and i love my online gaming. PLEASE HELP asus motherboard p8h67-m lx
