Specifically looking for info about ghosting issues and similar issues.
The monitor sounds incredibly interesting but the only info I can find about it is that it exists.
Looking to use it for mostly competitive games.
Freesync means little to me on it.

Competitive games? You'll want a TN unless you're not hyper competitive then the VA will be fine. There's nothing special about the XZ271U i imagine it uses an 8 bit + FRC panel to emulate 10 bit colors which is needed for HDR which its marketed as having, but it uses "global dimming" otherwise known as no local dimming at all. Couple that with the 3000:1 contrast ratio and 300 nit peak brightness and it may as well not even say it supports HDR as it will do a horrible job of showing it.

I'd recommend just getting an XF270HUA, 1440p 144hz freesync AHVA (IPS). If you're concerned with ghosting you probably shouldn't be looking at VAs in the first place.

Thats way out of my budget.
If its IPS it's not something I can afford. $400-$450 is my limit. I have a S2716DG and it looks like a white screen to me 99% of the time because of the backlight bleed, even when the brightness is turn to the minimum like it normally is. Its not the monitor itself, it's most TN panels. I can see VA and some IPS just fine, but a 144hz IPS is just way too much money.
Ghosting isn't a concern, I'm just curious how bad it is.
Tried the PX277 and its response time wasn't acceptable.

There's been a slew of monitors claiming HDR and for the reasons you have mentioned. Just turn the feature off and move on. I'm actually interested in this monitor too. I would rather have a VA then a IPS anyday due to low contrast compared to VA. VA has great blacks and contrast. I've had a IPS monitor and returned it right away, I'll stick with my current VA for now. I don't think you need to worry about ghosting by the way.

240Hz is the only reason a TN would be better - having slightly different response times won't hinder your performance, assuming the input lag is the same.

But of course, if you don't do anything else than super competitive gaming on it with low settings, a TN is the way to go.
