MSI MAG27CQ or MPG27CQ

Hi all,

Looking to get a new 27" 144hz 1440p monitor.

Have seen the MSI Optix range and can get a good deal (UK £) on them.
Looking at the MAG27CQ and the newer and more expensive MPG27CQ. Both VA panels.
The MAG27CQ has 250cd/m2 and the MPG27CQ have 400cd/m2 brightness.
Both say 1ms (MPRT) so I presume some form of strobing involved?

I think the MPG is newer and has extras like USB hub and RGB Steel Series Lights etc. Both a bonus but not a deal breaker at all.

Two things I'm really interested in, will there be a difference in the quality of the panels as one is showing brighter than the other or does it not work that way.
I also think the MPG has better anti blur but that's the bit I don't know about so any help with that between the two models would be much welcomed

In essence, if it has a better panel, is the MPG worth almost £100 more than the MAG?

MPG has settings for: Anti Motion Blur (Which turns Freesync off), Zero Latency and Response Time (Normal/Fast/Fastest)
MAG only has: Response Time (Off/Normal/Extreme)

How does it achieve 1ms MPRT? Is it with the Response Time settings?

It simply doesn't, especially since they're using Samsung panels.

I don't think strobing is particularly great with these panels because they're not very fast. Strobing can hide some overshoot, but it can also exacerbate the slowest transitions by making them more apparent. I'd still go with the MPG model simply because it's using a more recent panel and a beefier backlight.

MPG has worse gamma settings, more color banding and an impractical stand. But it has RGB.

Mmm...thanks guys. Really undecided now.
How does the MPG extra Anti Blur and Zero Latency settings affect things over the MAG?

Like the idea of the Windows software OSD with settings per app/game etc but is it worth £100 more as a monitor.

Normally use in a well lit romm but not really in bright sunlight.
Play FPS games though not ultra competitively and main reason will be for Flight Sim with X-Plane 11 software so colour accuracy fairly important though not imperative.
All round monitor really is what I need.

They are VA panels, so don't expect TN performance. Both monitors felt exactly the same to me. The only difference was the better picture quality of the MAG.

Seen a review that said MAG was better than MPG once calibrated

Got a new PC with 1080Ti and tend to keep monitors for a couple of graphic card changes so hence the difficult choice lol
