Good morning all. I have been trying to find the answer to a question I have but have not been successful. I am building a new system using an Asus Maximus XI Extreme and a 9900K with dual 1TB Samsung 970 Evo’s in RAID 0. This is my first build that has this fancy new Dimm.2 slot and I am confused by what I read online and in the user manual. On to the question.
I have read that it’s better to use the Dimm.2 slots to mount the nvme drives due to the built in heat spreaders as opposed to mounting them on the mobo slots. However, I think I also saw that using the dimm.2 will share PCIE lanes with the GPU slot limiting it to 8x speeds. Obviously this is less than ideal if it is the case. Can someone clarify where the best place is to install the nvme drives so that I don’t loose speed on my GPU? I have tried accessing the Asus forums but every time I go there I get stuck in a endless log in loop of typing in my login info and the captcha info which is put it correctly but always comes back as incorrect.
