for a 3080 can I use a dual 8 +8 pin cable or do i need two seperate 8 pin cables?
wouldn't a dual 8 pin not draw enough power though if I used it on an aib card or plugged it into the 12 pin on a founders edition card? You can use either but using two cables is considered safer and with a 3080 that is something you should be doing
okay i will use two. And I only have one pci-e cable from a 750w seasonic focus plus but I have another cable from a 650w seasonic focus plus will that pcie cable work same psu different wattageIt can draw enough power the problem is the cable might not be able to handle it and melted PCI-E cables while rare is not unheard of
If you have an older PSU and/or cables and/or a power hungry card its really better to use two cables rather than one
Ask yourself if the risk of killing your brand new $700+ GPU is worth the risk of using a single cable rather than two
If both are the same FX model other than the wattage you can freely use any cable from one to the otherits this psu

a 750w and 650w
I am looking to get an RTX 3080 myself and i am looking to either get the Asus TUF if they can do a better job with the cooler this time around since the last TUF cooler was a toal trainwreckyes they are the same fx model just the other is a 750w so i guess I can use it thank you.
I cant wait to get a rtx 3080 to replace my 1080ti.
off topic a bit what rtx 3080 should a go with a founders or an aib I dont know what to get when they come out
okay thank you for all your help I appreciate itThis is my own personal opinion on the cards so you can take it or leave it but EVGA is ugly as sin and may others also agree but you may or may not like all the RGB and bling
MSI requires you to log into an account before you can download their software and there is no hole in the backplate for the front fan so its just blowing air into the inside of the backplate so MSI are out for me for those reasons
Asus ROG Strix is way overpriced and as said needs 3 PCI-E connectors and the TUF might be another trainwreck which leaves the Dual which is the cheapest but also the worst so Asus is not really something i like
Gigabyte Eagle and Gaming OC is a bit plain or in other words boring but thats the least offense the Master and Extreme on the other hand are ridiculous 4 slot cards and the cooler is so thick and heavy that i am worried that it could damage the PCI-E slot without some sort of support to keep the front end up
That leaves Zotac as the last option and my opinion is the Trinity and the AMP Extreme are the ones i like the most but i have never owned Zotac before so their software could be god awful
Just make sure you have enough room in your case i made the mistake of not checking when i bought my MSI RTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio and when i had the card in my old Phanteks Luxe 1 case there was less than 1 cm of room left and the only way to get the card in or out of the case was fliping the card upwards in the front end otherwise the damm card was too long to come out of the caseokay thank you I think I want to go for the zotac
