for a 3080 can I use a dual 8 +8 pin cable or do i need two seperate 8 pin cables?

You can use either but using two cables is considered safer and with a 3080 that is something you should be doing

wouldn't a dual 8 pin not draw enough power though if I used it on an aib card or plugged it into the 12 pin on a founders edition card?

It can draw enough power the problem is the cable might not be able to handle it and melted PCI-E cables while rare is not unheard of
If you have an older PSU and/or cables and/or a power hungry card its really better to use two cables rather than one

Ask yourself if the risk of killing your brand new $700+ GPU is worth the risk of using a single cable rather than two

okay i will use two. And I only have one pci-e cable from a 750w seasonic focus plus but I have another cable from a 650w seasonic focus plus will that pcie cable work same psu different wattage

Depends on the models but if they are both from the new one Seasonic lineup you can use any cable from any one Seasonic PSU on any other one Seasonic PSU
I have a Focus GX and a Prime Ultra TX myself and i bought the GX so i could use the same cables if the need came up

Since both are Focus Plus they shuld work if both are the new GX models
Not sure if one or both is the older non GX model(s)

its this psu

a 750w and 650w
If both are the same FX model other than the wattage you can freely use any cable from one to the other
If one is the newer GX i am not sure

I am looking to get an RTX 3080 myself and i am looking to either get the Asus TUF if they can do a better job with the cooler this time around since the last TUF cooler was a toal trainwreck

Or i might get a Zotac card like the Trinity or the AMP Extreme
The founders card from Nvidia is not something i am interested in personally

Also I found this psu the first one is this one

and the second one is this one

will the second pcie cable from the 650w still work

thanks for the reply about the 3080

Both are FX so yes you can use any cable from any of the two

okay thanks for your help. And yeah im not sure what 3080 to get either the zotac looks really good to me

and if its an aib with 3 pci-e connectors I just use a dual and a single from two cables right

The only card i have seen so far with 3 is the Asus ROG Strix and i already dropped that since its overpriced and the 3 connectors is a PITA
My case already has problems with space for two PCI-E cables so adding another one will make the problem even worse and i am too lazy to do all that work anyway

okay out of all these I dont know

This is my own personal opinion on the cards so you can take it or leave it but EVGA is ugly as sin and may others also agree but you may or may not like all the RGB and bling

MSI requires you to log into an account before you can download their software and there is no hole in the backplate for the front fan so its just blowing air into the inside of the backplate so MSI are out for me for those reasons

Asus ROG Strix is way overpriced and as said needs 3 PCI-E connectors and the TUF might be another trainwreck which leaves the Dual which is the cheapest but also the worst so Asus is not really something i like

Gigabyte Eagle and Gaming OC is a bit plain or in other words boring but thats the least offense the Master and Extreme on the other hand are ridiculous 4 slot cards and the cooler is so thick and heavy that i am worried that it could damage the PCI-E slot without some sort of support to keep the front end up

That leaves Zotac as the last option and my opinion is the Trinity and the AMP Extreme are the ones i like the most but i have never owned Zotac before so their software could be god awful

Just make sure you have enough room in your case i made the mistake of not checking when i bought my MSI RTX 2070 Super Gaming X Trio and when i had the card in my old Phanteks Luxe 1 case there was less than 1 cm of room left and the only way to get the card in or out of the case was fliping the card upwards in the front end otherwise the damm card was too long to come out of the case

That was one of the reasons why i bought the Phanteks Luxe 2 aka 719
I already checked and the Zotac Trinity is about 1 cm shorter so if that card ends up in my second PC i wont have that problem again

This is how it was in the Luxe 1
