Starting this little thread to try and gain a better understanding of the overclocking potential of these Quad cores.

Post a screenshot with your stable OC along with Volts, Chip-set, and Cooling type. If you use more than one cooling type and gain a different result it will also be added to the list.

Lets use Cinabench R20 for validation along with CPU-Z and HWInfo64.

Cinabench CPU Test speed must match CPU-Z Reported Speed........ This means your OC must be done in Bios for Cinabench to match CPU-z. If you Can't boot in and run the Benchmark, then it's not stable.

All programs must be open, running at time at time of benchmark, and on one Single screenshot.

So I've been thinking of getting the 3100X just for gaming, I am still rocking a 2500k gaming rig but I want upgrade. How do you like it so far?

I think its a great chip for overclocking, not sure yet if mine is a one off freak or part of the average hence reason for thread.

If your building a new rig i think paying a bit more for Zen2 6 core cpu like the 2600x will serve you better down the road, For me right now the 3100 with a 1660 super plays all my games on ultra settings at over 100fps. If the average turns out to be 4.4ghz then great if it turns out to be 4.1 then the 3300x, 1600AF or 2600x would be a much better choice.

Depends if you like overclocking.

I see I am right now in the market for a new system I am looking at all these processors that AMD has release and they seemed pretty good, I have so many choices I don't know which one is a good bang for your buck.

Oh nice a bit of competition. Pretty much same volts as me but your OC is higher. What volts did you change to get 1900mhz on the IF. Nice temps.

I've ordered some wet and dry sand paper to lap the cpu and block, see how much higher i can get before going water. Waiting for a cold night atm to get a flex hose from outside and get down to single digits.

I shall update the board.

Theirs something not right here Cinabench says your tests where completed @4GHz. Yet your cpuz says 4.6ghz.

It all needs to be on one page like the mine and hsn's post. with hwinfo open so you can see voltage, and temp, highs and lows along with all the other states. all programs need to open and running at time of bench-test.

Im hoping over the next 6 months to get a good amount of validations, that way a chart can be compiled averaging the scaling and voltages used. also spotting Factory freaks. we need all validations to be the same, so to limit any doubt.

Will your's not run with an infinity fabric and memory OC, With mine i'm getting over 100fps at 4.5Ghz in games like Warzone,Cold war. PC2, over 300 fps in CSG. At 1080p. Ive OC'ed the GPU by 180/650.

It may not matter too much in R20 but games love high memory and IF.
