VERY BIG and i mean VERY BIG, can do all sorts of rads and great for air cooling unlike its predecessor

The case arrived in a very large box with nothing intact;

it supports various rads, nice hot swap bay, large motherboard support and i mean large, love the tinted side window panel and customer service.

been running on air for about a month or two and seems great keeping all my components cool.

I felt thou it lacked the quality of the 800D, i mean the motherboard tray plus the grommets felt a little bit flimsy compared to the 800D

i would recommend the case for anyone who is using water or even air as the case is huge and cheaper then what the competitors have to offer + i live in the UK so therefore other options are not available and would exceed my budget.

Don't believe the hype

I was really excited to get one of these to build a dual Xeon workstation in for work. Unfortunately this case has some serious design problems and generally awful build quality. It was damaged during shipping, badly enough that we couldn't use it. But that's not the reason for the bad review.

The good:
- It's huge. It can easily fit EATX and SSI EEB motherboards with room left over for reservoirs and cable management.
- One of the few cases that can fit a 480mm radiator.
- Elegant, simplistic design looks great on the outside.

And now, the bad:
- The motherboard mounting tray feels about as thick as a coke can. I can bend it with one finger.
- The HDD mounting brackets look like what you'd expect from a $30 case, and they don't even line up with the appropriate slots.
- The "User manual" for this huge, complex case is two pages long. Some of the screws are labeled incorrectly.
- The front panel fasteners are made of the same cheap plastic as the HDD brackets, and were broken off right out of the box.
- Both side panels were stuck and had to be pried off with a screwdriver. The release buttons on the back do nothing.
- The only thing holding the bottom doors shut is literally a couple magnets. Not good ones, either. Think refrigerator magnets. They perform as such too.
- Dust filters for the bottom panels are held on with cheap magnets as well. None of them will stay on.
- No way to reach the screws for the expansion slots. Seriously. Not even the shortest screwdriver will fit. I had to use pliers.
- Powder coat is so cheap it chips off just from screwing in components.

Bottom line: There certainly seems to be a lot of hype about this monstrous case, but it does not live up to it. This was my first and probably last Corsair case.

Sounds like you lucked out, I have a friend with this case, a 480 and 360 rad, twin pump setup, and he loves it. Not to mention it looks fantastic

Sounds about right. I own a 900D and it's easily the worst case over $100 I've ever built in. Some of the cheapest quality materials you will ever see in a $200+ case and absolutely putrid internal design. The only positive of it is it's size (it can fit exotic mobos) and it's ability to mount big radiators.

I know a part of my experience was bad luck and/or shipping damage, but if this kind of damage had happened to any of my other cases they'd have been fine. I didn't mention it in the review, but the whole frame of this thing was bent and dented, and the door hinges were broken off. Seriously, they're made of the cheapest sheet metal around.

I have a 900D and the HDD trays are a joke and there's no where for SSD's. I also had to replace all the fans because they were so noisy which added more money to an already grossly overpriced case.
In fact I'm buying something else.

Haha Mike, I had heard so much positive chatter about these for the past few years that I gave them serious consideration. It was the top part of the SM8 that is above the motherboard tray and under the top cap of it that made me opt for two SM8's from caselabs, I needed to mount the Aquacomputer 140mmx3 Airplex Modularity System with the incorporated pump and res. the caselabs cases will allow me to mount these and run tubing down through the rectangular opening right down into the main part of the case. Reading reviews like this one just make me even happier with the decision I made. I have had other corsair cases at the $100 price point (on heavy markdown at newegg but still) and I can see how corsair would use some of the same materials. The plastics are out of control.

Caselabs are very expensive but I can't see building in anything else from here forward. For me it is either caselabs or milk crate.

Corsair does some cool stuff don't get me wrong, but the 900D is not for me.

I agree with much of the reviewer's comments. I have this one and it is true. The HDD cases are in fact a flimsy molded rubberiest plastic cheap feel. So far, the hasp on each of the bays seem to keep closed and latch okay and the design of the cages are good, but the material of the HDD cages is indeed flimsy.

Another thing to watch out for is if you are using the ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard, the component's panel that fit in the hole in the back is not accurate at all. If you fit one side of the panel insert, the other side doesn't fit in the same way. It is sort of like a teeter-totter motion. Get one side right, the other side not so right and vice versa.

For the price, it is a good price over all, but there is much lack of desired to call this one perfect, because it ain't. It is far from perfect, but what is now days?
