I have a Z390-AORUS-PRO-WIFI motherboard with 2 NVME slots with heatsinks included. My question is this. When I purchase a new NVME SSD 970 Samsung drive will the screw that comes with the motherboard be sufficient to screw in the ssd drive and heatsink in place or do I need a seperate screw. This concerns the bottom NVME on the motherboard as the top one is already with a 970 drive. I did not screw the top one in, a friend did it for me and i don't remember the screw situation. Any help is appreciated.

My understanding is that typically they do come with the screw, but I've also seen it both ways. You could always check to see if the screw is already in the slot, or perhaps if there is a spare screw in one of the shorter attachment points (some slots will have 2-3 nuts to screw into, and the screw itself may be on any one of these. Sometimes if there is a heatspreader it will also screw trough the heatspreader to keep the drive in place. Otherwise you could just order a spare online, I'm not sure exactly what type of screw it is but a quick google should tell you what you need as it's a universal size.

Now that I think about it, usually the heatspreader will have a seperate larger screw to keep the heatspreader down, and you need a seperate one (which may already be there) for the drive. The best way to check it to take that heatspreader off (with PC off and unplugged) and check yourself. If it's not there you might also want to check the motherboard's box for a baggie that might have the screw in it, if it doesn't come pre-installed.

If you need extra, amazon sells extra of m.2 screws. Look for your motherboard brand m.2 and it will pop up.

My Mobo didn't have a screw for the second slot, also some drives come without one. So it can be spoil for all the fun when you get your drive and try to install it.

A very tiny one that is harder than hell to get started. Who designed this monstrosity?

Oh I forgot to update you guys, the screw that came with the mobo was sufficient to screw in the NVME 970 Pro 2TB. But yeah Gene0 is correct in that the screw is so tiny it must of fallen in between the mobo and was hard to find, luckily my screwdriver is magnetic.
