I've noticed the Radeon VII selling for outrageous prices on ebay ($1800+). Is this because it's a superior solution for cryptomining? I know for some gaming benchmarks it would post right behind a 2080ti, but there weren't many games like that so I'm guessing it's not for gaming perf.

Yea it's absolutely mining. Its up in the 3080 range with mining

Yep, that big pool of HBM2 makes it a very potent eth miner. ~100MH/s at 200w is not uncommon.

These are repurposed/modded AMD compute products. They are phenomenal for mining.

They were selling for ~$500 shipped on amazon prior to the crypto wave and talking people into buying them was like pulling teeth. The same was true of the RX 570/580 cards.

Everyone just bought a much weaker nvidia card for the same price instead. No joke.

1800+!!!!!!!!!

So it turns out the used Radeon VII I just purchased yesterday is worth more than my 6900XT. Crazy times.

I got extremely lucky, I bought it because I needed 2080/1080Ti performance. Never would have imagined this is worth more than a 2080Ti/3070/3080. I also got lucky that it already comes with a block.

So Ethereum is quickly closing in on Proof Of Stake meaning we are at the tail end of the current crypto wave. I'm never one to tell another person what to do, but if I were you I would sell the Radeon VII and buy something else. They will soon be losing a whole lot of value.

Though if you aren't concerned about the value of it they are good performers and the 16gb of vram is nice to have. They also overclock quite well and can be undervolted while overclocked even to become quite efficient gaming cards.

I bought it for 400 bucks, won't be sad if it losses value. Really do need a GPU on that rig and the GPU gets here on Friday. Plus I always wanted to try out a Radeon VII.

Time will tell I guess. I mean if someone wants to trade a 3070Ti/3080/6800XT for it I won't say no lol.

If you scalp a GPU you purchased at an honest price on the forums from an honest seller, do yourself a favor and dont post about it here...

Lots of people are looking for GPUs for their ONLY computer. If you end up not liking the card, please keep that in mind and give someone else a chance with the card.

I plan on keeping it, once I'm done with it I will frame it and put it next to my GTX480.

I myself try to post good deals here on this forum. I probably sold 20 items last year ranging from a 6600XT (I think to speed demon) and 3060 I sold at cost. Sold RAM, GPUs, CPUs, boards. Last item I sold was a 9980XE for 435, could have easily sold for 600 plus on ebay (cheapest one was 750).

I bought 1080 Ti's instead. Probably wise for gaming, but Radeon VIIs certainly would have paid for themselves faster.

Yeah thanks again for the 6600xt! It's in a buddy's rig as he lives in the middle of nowhere west virginia so his pc is his only link to the outside world. Sold it to him for the same price I paid you. :)

VII was very fast with WB. With stock cooler was pretty garbage. 17xxMHz, loud vs 21xxMHz.

Can vouch, gtz is not a scalper.

I purchased it when i found out it has almost 4 teraflops in double precision. Its still one of the higher values per watt. And this value was right on Wikipedia since before the launch.

Yet I do not cryptomine. I keep that kind of performance in case there will be need to crack something open.

Mine was purchased from the shop, brand new, upgraded to UEFI firmware by accident, allowed to use 64bit addressing and Resizable BAR, and given a watercooler. That accounted for 800+200 Euro in purchase. I thought it was overpriced... Now it returned back its price in case I would decide to sell it.

Let's just say I wouldn't have my 6900XT if it wasn't for the brand new Radeon VII I picked up for $550 right before crypto took off again. I loved my Radeon VII and NEVER sell video cards (stares at old GF4 ti4200 128mb on my shelf) but with how insane the market has been it was my only chance at an upgrade any time soon.

Besides, I don't feel bad selling it for a high price when I know it's shafting a miner, not gamer. I'd sell it while you can.... It's a good card, and like I said I loved mine, but you will get something that will blow you away in comparison for what it's currently worth.

Yea, mine held over 1800mhz at all times while using less power and my HBM2 held 1200mhz so I did well for air-cooling. Helps that my case (Thor V2) is a air cooling monster, though.

It is difficult to calculate the profitability of mining. We only see the current situation and do not know what will happen tomorrow. It is difficult to predict how the fate of a particular cryptocurrency will turn out, the competition is fierce. But it is already an obvious fact that the blockchain industry has already become part of the global economy. After Bhero.com I realized that cryptocurrency mining is a promising occupation, but you invest money at your own risk. However, the same can be said about any business project. It all depends on your skills and talent as an entrepreneur.
