Any idea what this pump noise could be? Brand new corsair XD5

I tested your suggestions, doesn't seem to help. It's definitly coming from the pump itself.

I would drain the loop and take the D5 out of the housing and check O-Rings and make sure it was indeed tightly in the topper. System is fully bled of air?

D5 style pump? Try reseating the impeller. Its just held on by a magnet.

My old Nzxt Kaken x62's pump used to make that sound. That's why I never use my desktop computer for work or studying. It was terribly annoying. I hate to say this but I don't think that there is a solution to this other than switching to air cooling.

So I ended up changing the pump speed to 85% (was on 100%) and it's dead silent. Seems easier than to tear it down or RMA.

Sure but long term you could actually want to use your pump at 100% at some point. But your call.

If it is a brand new pump just out of the box and you have put your loop together, personally I would send it back and get a new one, pumps do make noise naturally, especially at 100% but definitely send it back it could be the start of more problems down the line for you, that's only my opinion of this, hopefully, you get everything worked out in the end for you.Best of luck
