I picked up a new Dell Alienware G15 5520 laptop. It has 2x8GB DDR5 4800 Samsung modules.

I bought a set of Kingston Fury DDR5 2x16GB 4800hz and installed. The laptop won't post. Put the original RAM back in and it boots fine.

Now its either defective RAM or a compatibility issue.

Any suggestions?

- With the working set of Ram, check what bios version you have and check for updates, if there are any, run them (if you can select the option to reset to defaults after flash, or do it manually after)
- power down the laptop, pull out the battery, discharge (without battery and power hold the power on button for about 20 seconds), swap the dimms to the kingstons.

I did a bios update and tried an alternative bios which had a higher version number despite being older. Nothing worked. I've read on other forums that this unit doesn't like Corsair or Kingston RAM in general, which sucks because that's all that is available in my area. I can order Crucial online but if it doesn't work, returning will be a nightmare.

I'm not too thrilled with the laptop in general, the screen isn't overly bright and the unit is bulkier than I expected. I may just return it and go with something slimmer.

I ended up returning the Alienware and picked up an Asus Zephyrus G14. Smaller, lighter and has a much brighter screen (double the nits screen brightess). RAM can't be upgraded but it was also cheaper.

However, I am now getting intermittent lag with a logitech bluetooth mouse. I tried another wireless mouse with a dongle and its fine.

I am assuming its a bluetooth issue. Anyone had any issues with bluetooth devices and windows 11?
