I have a Logitech G5 Battlefield 2142 mouse that I would like to replace. I'd like to get something that feels similar and with similar specifications. Obviously, it doesn't need the Battlefield images or whatnot. I would prefer it be wired. Can I get something like that in the $50 range?

Maybe the roccat kone pure owl eye? What size are your hands? The owl eye is the smaller lighter version at 88 gram. The bigger one is the kone emp at 116 grams or so.

I'd go for the smaller one (pure owl eye) if you have small to medium hands. Large hands the emp.

kone pure is NOTHING like the g500, i recently got the Kone SE and while it has a thumb groove the right side is clearly designed with curved fingers in mind, it's also tiny wich is why allot of ppl like it for fingertip, just don't touch roccat mice unless you claw to an extent imo. If you look at pictures of it you will see it has very square edges which will dig into the hands of people trying to palm grip it like a g400s or g5/500/500s.

So for op, if you grip the mouse with 3 fingers on top i'd recommend looking for a g400s if you care most about shape, G500s is technically the last direct successor of the G5 shape but both of these don't compare well to mice with 3360's etc.
If you don't mind "heavy" mice ie. 125grams then the G502 is really nice, allot of people like the g403 and it's various iterations but to recommend that i'd need to know your grip style. imo g502 is a safe bet for a mouse with a 3360 and close shape.

I use a right handed palm grip. Pointer finger on the left button and middle finger on the right button. And what's a 3360? Is that the laser sensor?

I still don't understand why Logitech doesn't keep at least one of their classic potatoes in the lineup.
Agreed!

So I was researching replacing my G5 because it's REALLY done now. And I ran across my own thread from 2 years ago when I was last looking at doing this :lachen:

In case anyone is curious, I ordered the G502 Hero.

It looks like my mx518. I just changed to logitech g305 and it's like 10 times better due to 1000hz refresh rate. I am shooting headshots in Valorant like crazy. I know it's wireless but totally usable in competetive fps

The new 2020 version of MX518 is the closest you can get to a true G5 replacement.

I've tried all of them and am back to my original generation 1 G5 right now. When this mouse dies I'm going to buy both an MX518 2020 version and a NIB G5. Considering this mouse is 15 years old, I'd expect my next mouse to last about the same and if so then paying $150 for a new one is minor to me.

Random photo proving I've got the OG G5 still in use today. Lol. Mine works great but I'm preparing for the day it eventually doesn't.

Here's mine on an equally dirty pad:

Guys, I've been a long time user of legendary G5 mouse, unfortunately it broke so I bought Logitech G502 X plus. Its scrolling wheel is just terrible :( I mean, I can somehow tell myself that it's loud and get used to it BUT sometimes it makes additional weird and annoying sound when I lift up my finger out of it. Can anyone confirm this or my copy is faulty? please?

Wasted good money for nothing :poop: .

Yeah, Logitech has gotten cheap and nasty by now choosing to use a light ABS built Scroll wheel, which alone creates all those problems because the original G502 was made with a decent metal scroll wheel.

Looks like it was built according to accountants here, they are the only ones to push through awful design decisions, just to save a penny on production. Again, another Logitech disaster being sold today to the innocent  .
