Raise tREFI to 65535 and increase VDIMM to stabilize, if necessary.
Try lower TCWL to 14 and WRRD SG and DG to 30 24 or 28 24.
Try tWR 12 tRTP 6 and RDD_L 4.
I already tried all this (except raising tREFI) and it didnd't improve my results. Strangely, if anything, it made them about 0.5% worse.

I did increase my ring ratio from 46 to 48 and now my RTLs closed up so I guess that's nice?

I'll try nudging up tREFI but not with any more voltage. Tried CR1, no go. Tried lower tCL, no go with 1.4v (was a longshot). Pretty happy here tbh.

So I bought myself 2x32 DDR4 like I mentioned a few days ago and I used Taiphoon now, but I can not see what type of die I got and what its capabilities it has (I was told to get either Corsair or Crucial for Micron B-Die, but I can´t see what determines it as MB-Die in Taiphoon. If you guys can tell me what Die type I have, can you also tell me what the maximum daily safe voltage it has?

MSI released a new BIOS for the Z790 Tomahawk D4. It's good. On version 1.4, I could only stabilize 4133. On 1.5, I was able to stabilize 4266 but I needed 1.42v SA. I reduced my SA to ~1.34 and now I can run 4200. VDDQ is 1.35. I had to loosen RDRD and WRWR from 7/4 to 8/4.

Edit: If I use CR 2 then I can set the tertiary timings to 7/4 and 12/12.

I hope MSI releases the bios update for the z790 a pro WiFi ddr4 as well. Since it shares the same memory topology.

MSI are going to be discounting the z790 a pro ddr4 WiFi

I've maxed out my MC pll voltage on my z790 board and now I can post lower twrrd_sg/dg. Previously stuck at 31/25 and now I can post 27-21

What board/voltage

That is interesting, I remember Buildziod setting offset voltages in the 70-100mv range to these pll.

Core PLL Voltage [Auto]
Ring PLL Voltage [Auto]
System Agent PLL Voltage [Auto]
Memory Controller PLL Voltage [Auto]

That was on Asus Mb I think.
I know I’ve tweaked most of those voltages now to keep my ram oc stable. Lately though my board wants to keep training 73/73/73 for rtls when it was always train 71s 9/10..nothing changed 🤷‍♂️ think this weekend I’ll try the new bios 1.5…been on 1.3 since November because 1.4 was a pain for some reason.

How high are you running SA and VDDQ TX ?

What's the best bang for the buck in overclocking ddr5 now? 2x8 or 2x16 - either is good for me.
I plan to pair these with 13900ks and hopefully z790 apex. thanks!
(crap! posted in the wrong thread, I'll post this in the other thread also, sorry about that).

Hello,

i am on a MSI Tomahawk Z690 DDR4 Wifi mobo with 32GB (2x 16GB) of Crucial Ballistix MAX 4400 @ 4800 and a 12700k @ stock.

VDDQ = 1,35V
CPU SA = 1,25V
DRAM = 1,5V

I am reaching the following:

How can i lower the latency??

Thanks for your help and greetings.

Yeah lower them to 17-18-18-36 or 17-17-17-36 and leave rest on auto. And increase SA to 1.3

Your in gear 2 mode, so you need to make a decision either keep gear 2 and you prioritize bandwidth with higher latency or go gear 1 with less bandwidth but better latency.
You would of course not be able to do 4800 in gear 1, more like 3900-4000 but latency would be in mid to low 40's.

I received my new mob and CPU since I was using 4000 CL15-16-16-36 and I checked my z690 tuf D4 QVL and it said I could use 4dimm 4000 but my imc couldn't handle it so I lowered to 3600 here is my timing I'm getting below average performance and I'm not sure why if someone can help me figure out what's wrong

There's a few things here and there you could improve, but the biggest one that sticks out is tREFI. You are definitely losing a lot of performance having it at 4000

If you have stability issues set CR to 2. I am suprised it even booted 1t with 4 sticks in gear 1.

Also running 2t would probably let you run higher clocks in gear 1. I havent tried 1t or 4x8 for quite a while on z690 Asus but I know from past testing on z690 Strix d4 1t was difficult to get stable even with only 2x8 at higher clocks in gear 1.
