I have been keeping an eye out for an internal monitor for temps and such over the last couple of years.

I wanted one that can receive video instructions from a USB3 header.

When I saw this one on Amazon I thought I had found what I was looking for since it said "Connector Type: USB" but it actually has both USB and HDMI. When I looked back down the page on Amazon I found where it says HDMI, which is unfortunately since I wouldn't have purchased it if I had of realized.

I don't really want to rout a cable out the back of my PC. However, I decided to check it out anyway.

It says it's for Aida 64, which I have never used. It doesn't say anything about any built-in displays. There are zero instructions in the box.

I am going to play around with it for a bit and see what I can do, but I'm really not interested in spending hours and hours getting it working. If I can get it working, then I might we willng to spend more time, possibly making my own display.

I would love to see an Lcars display to match my Star Trek theme in my build, so I will have to see.

Has anyone here purchased on of these before? I would love to hear how you made out.

Never mind.
I have it at home now. The cables, both USB and HDMI, must be routed out the back of the PC.

This sucks and is not what I was looking for.

To top it off, the cables plug in on the side instead of the back, so you would easily see the cables through the side window.(they didn't show this in the pictures on Amazon)

Also, there is nothing that it comes with other than the cables. So everything has to be set up from scratch. At this price the least they could have done is include some Aida64 templates. I was on their site, and I was about to pay the $40 US for the software, but I thought I would check the device one more time. Having two cables going out the back of my PC, and having the cables visible inside the PC is a deal breaker.

I will send it back on Monday.

You could use an internal usb to usb adapter. Not much you can do to get a video signal however.

BeadaPanel.

7" display 1280x480 resolution. Bright crisp display. Perfect addition. It is pricey though. Order from China on ebay.

Font Gadget Display device Gas Rectangle

Connects with just a single USB cable. No other cables required. It natively connects with Aida64. An SDK is provided. There is also a very basic Windows driver for it that will allow it to act as a secondary display. Without the driver, the panel is limited to Aida64 out of the box. It is Plug n Play without the driver, but only with Aida64.
Some panels I modded and posted in Aida64 forum. Feel free to download and mod to liking.:

Mine didnt come with the casing in the picture. Just a cheap flimsy metal frame.

Try it without the driver first. It works perfect. It has 16GB or 32GB memory. I cant remember. But you can also load your own pictures or video to the display itself. Once you install the driver, you will no longer have that ability.

The driver is very basic. Not much you can change. No scaling. But it will act as a secondary display with the driver installed. The driver install is a bit of a pain, but pretty much straight forward. I wrote a guide in Aida64 forum for installing the driver. Read it first if installing driver. There are a few things I mention that are not in the BeadaPanel instructions.

As you agreed, it is pricey. But in my opinion, worth it. I hope you enjoy it.

I am mostly interested in it working with Aida64. I want to try and use some type of Lcars template on it. They have already shipped it using international expedited so hopefully it won't take a month to get here.

Can't seem to find the forum. Can you link it here?

If you want the easiest and most painless mode, leave it as USB. Plug it in and enable it in Aida64.

If you install the driver, it will act as a secondary display. In this mode, you can add elements outside of Aida64. Rainmeter or similar can be used to add animated effects and other elements.

LOL, of course.

Here I was looking for an Aida64 forum on OCN.

So I have received the panel, and I have it working but so far I have no idea how to make it display anything but the AIDA64 screen.
I had to use an NZXT internal USB hub to get it working as I had used up my two internal ports.

I find it can be a little iffy getting it to display an image after being unplugged and plugged back in again.

I purchased AIDA64 Extreme, and frick was it expensive. The price had gone up by $10 US, and in Canadian dollars, with tax (yeah, like I believe they send the Canadian government tax money), it was like $100, just for the software, This thing has cost me $250 Canadian so far. Gees...

OK, so after mucho head scratching, this is what I came up with. I "borrowed" someone's Lcars picture from a site, and then used it as a background after fixing the aspect ratio and added a couple of dials and some sensor information. I'll see if I can come up with something a little better later, now that I know what graphs and dials and things are available in the editor. I wish they had of made a way to edit the text for the sensors. I would like to have had something like GPU CLK, the value, and MHz one top of each other so I could put it in a vertical rectangular box. Or allow us to put a sensor reading anywhere and then allow us to label it ourselves. And, of course, drag and drop would be a huge bonus instead of having to use those arrows to move things around. Got pretty tired of the "click click, click, click click, click, click click, click, click click, click, click click, click, and so on and so on....
A dragable scale for sizing would also be a good feature. The dials can only be made three sizes. If they improved the editor, this would be a really powerful tool for displays like this.

I was daydreaming about a template that would be an animation of a Federation starship battling a Klingon ship, and having the amount of damage on the federation ship represent the heat of the CPU (or whatever). The more damage and explosions the higher the temperature, until finally if the starship blew up it would mean the CPU is throttling. Maybe when the system is idling the Klingon ship would get blown up. It seems a little beyond my skills though.

Again, I did not create the Lcars picture. (Of course, now I find out the display will not shut off when I shut my PC down. I have disabled the appropriate setting in BIOS but the display keeps running when the PC is off. I even went into device manager and checked all the power settings for the USB ports.)

To turn the monitor off as well usually the bios setting "ErP ready" helps.
Anything gets cut though. You will not be able to recharge you phone via usb if the pc is off.
Thanks.

That is the setting I changed in the BIOS and a second setting for the USB ports specifically, and what I have found is that when I shut down the PC using the Windows shutdown, the display and the main board RGB LEDs stay on.

If I shut the PC off using the power switch, a "hard off" by holding the switch in for ten seconds, then everything shuts off.
It's like since Windows isn't really shutting the PC off, the main board is not killing power to the USB ports.

When I get home I am going to shut fast boot off in the Windows power settings and see if that makes a difference. If not, I will hvae to go onto ASUS's forums and see if I can get some help there.

Have you visited that shxtshow lately since they gave up and have rented an external provider who has no effin clue about the general structure of support forums?

Good luck finding any related topic or help there!

Thank goodness I don't have to. The problem was caused by Windows fastboot. Once I turned it off problem is gone.

Thanks for your assistance guys, and especially xmanrigger. You provided me with exactly what I was looking for.
