Hello! my spec
gigabyte b550 aorus elite v2
5800x3d
deepcool ls 720
3060 ti colorful (i guess it does not matter)
deepcool DQ 750
At idle, the temperature is 39-41, but every time I open the browser / other programs / scroll through YouTube or something like that, the processor temperature jumps from 40-45 to 65-76 for 5-6 seconds, and then returns back.
I tried all the ways, PBO, -30 curv, updating the BIOS to the latest version, all AMD software for the chipset and processor, nothing helps from these jumps. What could be the problem? The temperature itself in games is very adequate, it stays around 55-65, but when i openening programs\browser, it spikes sharply to 74+ for 5-10sec
like i can play cyberpunk on ultra settings for 5-6 hours and I won't see a temperature over 66-68.
But if i just open browser without any games in tray, CPU temps jumps for 65-74+ for a few seconds.
Can someone explain to me, is this a problem in the settings, or is it worth carrying the processor under warranty?

Seems perfectly normal. What are your temps under load?

Probably just turbo/boost kicking in. Those temps are nothing to worry about with your CPU.

Gaming does not mean "under load" for CPU testing tho. Running a CPU stability test like Prime95 is what I'm referring to. What are your CPU temps under full load from a stress test?

I have attached a screenshot from aida64. Under maximum load, temperatures fluctuate from 79 to 81, I have not seen higher in Aida64

Then your temps are good, nothing to worry about.

Depending how frequently the logging software samples, you will see temps jump all over the place. Totally normal with pretty much any CPU. Especially modern ones with variable clocks. As long as you are not hitting the max temps, nothing to ever get a little worried about. Even if temps get high, the CPU will slow down on it's own to prevent damage.

Hey Yonerie, I had a similar issue with my 5800X3D where temps would spike suddenly when opening browsers or even smaller apps. I found that it has a lot to do with how aggressively the CPU boosts even for light workloads. My cooling setup (Deepcool Castle 360) wasn't able to keep up with these sudden bursts either, despite being great during gaming.

One thing that helped was tweaking the fan curve to be a bit more aggressive, so the fans ramp up quicker when these spikes occur. Also, you might want to look into limiting the boost behavior slightly using Ryzen Master or BIOS settings—I've seen people set a limit on the PPT or adjust boost behaviors to prevent these spikes.

I came across an article while searching Google yesterday about 5800X3D idle temps on pcgearzone, and it seems like a pretty common issue with this CPU. It might be worth giving it a read for some additional insights. Hope that helps! 😄
